Where to find "experts" to interview?

Hi there,
I need a few experts to interview for my upcoming product. I heard about HARO and I contacted them today. Any other source?
Also.
In exchange for their "expert" knowledge they'll get links to their website or product, but
How can I make sure I don't owe them a royalty on my earnings?
Should I sign legal agreements and time/money consuming stuff? In that case I would totally avoid the interviews and become an "expert" myself.

    I've found a site, don't know if it is exactly what you want: ProfNet from PR Newswire.
    Regarding the second thing, it is always advisseble to sign an agreement.

    You can find blog owners who are experts by googling blogs that are mentioning keywords related to what you are offering, contact them through their blog and ask if they can be interviewed.

      How can you owe them royalty payments on your earnings when it's your product and they are merely offering professional comments via an interview?

        Hey mate,

        Getting interviews are not hard if there's something in it for the interviewer.

        You need to figure out why you want to do the interview? Are you trying to get traffic? Or sell your product to that persons traffic?

        Most experts will be glad to do interviews because they get exposure to other websites and other traffic sources. A simple way to get this done is using Twitter, or Google your niche and "blog", and contact the owner to ask if they would be interested to help out and do an interview.

        Always remember WII FM = "What's in it for me"; that's what the other person is going to think before doing an interview for you. What can you offer them? You won't need to pay a royalty to them if you are selling your own product. On the flipside, if the interview is in text format you can get an affiliate link for his product and make a cut from that.

        There are numerous ways to get people to help you out, but u need to offer them something sexy. So either let them put there links on your page and sell your own product to the traffic generated; or let him sell a product and you can take a %.

        Don't be afraid of just trying to email people and ask them to do the interview. You'll be surprised at who you can get to respond to you!

          Hey Joey, that was a really useful reply. It is really true that adding value works. As soon as I finished to read your post I felt curious to know more about what you're doing and checked out your cool blog. Nice to know that at the moment we are in the same city as well.

          What I understood is that my options are:
          1. Use their interview for my audiobook and book in exchange for link to their website or product (where I can get an affiliate link to their product)
          2. Get them to promote my book as well on their website, where they will get a big piece of the cake as affiliates.

          Is that what you are saying or am I missing some options?

            Yes exactly.

            If you have somebody doing an interview for you; you can entyce them by saying "You can upsell your product on the interview, so all the traffic that I get to my website will be potential customers for you" < that's the plus point for that dude, because he will get traffic, and potentially new customers, so he's happy to do that; you can just take a % of the sales.

            Now, on top of that, you ask for the other guy your interviewing to send his mailing list an update, to let them know they've done an interview on your blog > that will direct all his traffic to your site too, and if you have a product to sell, that's all traffic coming your way > you can also offer a % to the guy you interview to entyce him further.

            There are a lot of different ways u can make a deal ^ the above is just an example, I would personally do it differently to what I've just said, but it's just to give you an idea of how to think about things.

            It's a business deal; always think what is in it for me and the customer > always give the other guy value, and it will always pay off for you. The less greedy you are, the more money you can make

    Search for big forums in your niche. Locate the experts among the frequent, passionate posters and ask them for an interview. Most of them will just do it just to get their name out ...

    Another thing you can do is interview book authors (easy to spot on amazon). I'm sure some of them will take you up on your offer as long as you plug in their book.

    just get on the phone or email "experts" who can add value to your product. Your product should provide a service to humanity... the money is a byproduct.


    Experts, if there is such a thing, would be glade to give you content to add in exchange for exposure > upsells> links back ect.

    I'm open for any interviews

    All i would do is say,, can i interview you and put it on my website. They just might only stipulate that you have to get their name and website listed correctly.

    As far as royalty or whatever I wouldn't even discuss this unless they plan on sending you traffic

    If you know a lot about a subject, then it seems like you will likely know who the experts are. Why would you get involved in a niche that you don't know a lot or at least a reasonable amount about?

    As others have indicated, I would just search for authority websites on the topic and reach out to them directly. I've been contacted through my website for interviews numerous times and I don't think I've ever passed any of those requests up!

      But if I interview 5 "experts" and make a product out of those interviews, I mean, my product is composed by those interviews, do I need to pay them a royalty or it's my product and I don't owe any royalty to them?

        Hi Joe! I've used this strategy many times, and have been on both ends of the equation. Depending on who you are trying to interview and what the subject matter is, many times their "hot button" is simply to get more visibility.

        By conducting the interview, publicly sharing it, blogging about it, and potentially sending out a P.R., you more than meet that need.(and these are all easy things to do)

        If you also give them the potential to be an affiliate for your complete product, then this can become an additional motivating factor for them - while simultaneously generating more revenue for you.

        Think about it this way... you are helping to establish them as an expert in their niche by producing the product, which gives them wider visibility as a result.

        One of the best things to do is have them sign an agreement which gives both of you full rights to use the recording however you see fit. This makes it a win-win for both. If you focus on the win-win, it becomes a no-brainer for the right interviewee.

      People who are self announced experts, they are actually scammers. Expert will always try to hide themselves behind the curtain and will consider themselves as students.

    Amazon, clickbank, niche oriented forums... You can find industry experts-- in all of these places. Join their lists and then reply to one of their newsletters and ask if you can interview them. It gives them more publicity, so I don't see them saying no. They could say no, if they are heavily swamped with work...

      I have interviewed more than 1000 experts in my career. (Before becoming a marketer, I was a freelance magazine writer.)

      Generally you look for book authors or college professors who have demonstrated expertise. They know that it's good publicity for their work to be interviewed if you have a clear plan for how you are going to use their interview.

      I have never once been asked for payment by a book author or professor in this context.

    Contact them directly.

    If you follow them, have commented or bought their products/services then you will have some luck.

    Who ever you're after just make sure you know a lot about them and offer them rewards that THEY want...
