$50 minimum on Elance?

Hi guys,
I was gonna get some articles written for me on Elance, and they're saying that the minimum bid amount that providers can bid is $50.

Is this right? I've had work done on elance before which was less than $50. How am I supposed to test people out for a few bucks when they're saying that I need to spend $50 minimum?

Is this a new policy or something?

I used to use elance for a while (as a provider). And yes, when I was there, there is a $50 minimum bid. If you want to test someone out for less than that, you'll have to try somewhere else. There's no way around the $50 minimum.

Why don't you check out the For Hire section here in the forum? Tons of article writers advertising there.

could you really get 25 articles for that much?

if not, how many could you get?

just curious because I too have been put off by the 50 dollar limit.

what would the quality be like as well?

any answer to these questions from anyone would be much appreciated

          regards

    Nick,

I use RentACoder a lot. Maybe you want to try that? Some good writers there. Make sure you ask for samples

    Hi Guys,
Thank for the responses. I've just told the person I put the bid to that I only wanted to pay $10 as a test. I guess I'll find out soon if they can actually make that bid.

Like I was saying, I've got things done for less than $50 before. weird. I'm pretty sure that they can bid $50, but break it down into $10 milestones, so...meh

Good suggestion Sagar, I've put it on rentacoder, have gone through them before. I was under the impression that elance had more people available to do article/graphic type stuff, but if they've changed the way they do business that much (just like the terrible "improvements" to the gui), then I guess elance is a sinking ship.

    I think I'll jump

You can try other outsourcing sites like odesk. Or you can just go to WF's For Hire section.

    Hi Nick

why going through the pain of testing dozens of writers to find one good one anyway?

Check out my signature. All writers are experienced native English speaking writers. All articles are formatted correctly and pass copyscape test.

    Thanks

    Gunter

Elance is no fiverr. It's more of a professional marketplace.
