Mexico, Algeria, Bolivia, Hungary, Australia, Saturn?

Every day throughout WF we create numerous threads and posts. When we get into conversation - sometimes offering advice and sometimes seeking advice - quite often it's a benefit knowing which country the person you are conversing with hails from. So why is it most people don't state their country at all in the location category of their visible profile settings? Should it be compulsory? . . . even though some would lie.

I can understand having a nom de plume if you don't wish to disclose your real name. I can understand a cartoon or graphic avatar if you don't want your mugshot broadcast to all and sundry. But not stating your country . . . why?

On a personal level, if I were to partner, JV, or undertake to do work or have work done for me, then my preference would be with someone I can meet with face to face in my own country. So it helps to know their location at a glance.

Offering particular advice can sometimes be country relevant. Knowing the time difference can be relevant to ongoing communications. And geographics also plays an important part in most business's in terms of trading laws, banking, etc; so knowing which country is a plus. There are numerous other reasons why it's beneficial to know which country a WF user is from but I won't go into them all here. I'm sure a few others will be posted up.
