Selling niche directory submissions - best practice?

Hi to all you warriors out there. I am hoping that someone can guide me in the right direction. I run a B2B directory and submissions are being charged via clickbank. The way it is set up now is that when a user clicks 'add your company' he is taken to a sales page then to clickbank and from clickbank to registration form which he needs to fill out. Each registration must be manually approved and qualify but most of them do. My question is this. In your opinion, would it be better to ask users to fill out the form first 'for free' and then, when they qualify, ask for the payment?

Are there any better alternatives for increasing conversions?

    If I had to guess, I'd guess that that would be better; yes.

    But I don't have to guess, and neither do you: you need to split-test it for 3 months (or whatever time-period produces statistically significant figures) and see which produce most income for you. That - rather than asking people in forums what their guess is - is the way forward, here.

    Just a quick note Alexa, I know that I should split test this but to do that means to change / add / moddify quite a bit, which will require x amount of hours. Before I start I would like to find out what others this about this..., and perhaps get some insights
