Buy new domain, found IP on blacklist

I am looking at purchasing a new domain and was looking at different blacklist websites. On one site I received this:

Warning! 2 items associated with domain.com are listed in 2 DNS blacklists.
LISTED 76ms APEWS Level 2
DNS A Record domain.com. resolves to a blacklisted IP address
LISTED 224ms BBQ
DNS A Record domain.com. resolves to a blacklisted IP address

On all the other sites everything turned out ok.

What does this mean? Will this be a problem?

Thanks

You just need to put the domain on a clean IP address and you are good. The IP is marked as blacklist not the domain.

These were my thoughts exactly. Just needed confirmation.

Will the IP change when the owner transfers the domain to me?

YES!!! Ip will change as soon as you take over and host it on a new hosting company.

My guess is that the site is currently hosted on a dodgy server somewhere. It's the nameservers that are being flagged.

However, if the owner was prepared to host the site with an iffy host, what else has he/she been doing that might carry over to your new site?

    Just a thought.

The owner has had since 1998, not sure what they have done with it. It is parked at the moment.

There's a lot of speculation when it comes to black lists & IP's. It's extremely "easy" to get an IP flagged. Just because it's listed, does not mean there will be problems.

If it's currently on shared, hosting, chances are the IP is blacklisted, somewhere. They come & go, get listed & removed daily.

The only time you really need to worry about this is if you're getting email bouncebacks.
