I am setting up a website that is in blog format, how do I insert an image that appears to the left of my blog post while in the magazine layout?

Thanks

Try uploading a featured image for the posts

You should be able to center your image to the left, center, or right inside your wordpress control panel.

I am assuming you are using Wordpress.

Depends on what blogging platform you're using. Are you using Wordpress, Blogger, Movable Type, etc?

It all depends on the blogging platform that you are using. Most popular blogging platforms has a WYSIWYG editor that makes it easier to edit things, if yours don't include one then I believe you should start looking for one that does.

Can you tell us what blogging platform you are using?

Yes I am using wordpress, I purchased a theme called Insignia that I like very much and have no issues with except this one. When I assign a image as the featured image everything attaches fine except the featured image appears all distorted above the post which is not what I want. I have attached a pic that has the desired outcome that I am looking for.

You should be able to do it right from within your Edit Post screen where under the "visual editor" tab (top right) you should see top left "Upload/Insert" options for Images, video, audio, etc...

Select the images tab where you can add an image from either your PC or from a link if it is already uploaded somewhere on your website.

I have tried every way possible through the editor, I will look into the plugin, the sample image I uploaded is from another blog that uses the same theme as I am so I know it is possible.

    Thanks

If it's the featured image you're talking about, it's how it has been formatted in your theme. Take a look at single.php and edit the formatting of featured posts. If it isn't a featured post, then you should just be able to align it with the editor when you make the post.

Alternatively, you could send an email for the theme you are using, or visit their website. Maybe they have a forum?

Put this is your just before your first paragraph:

    <div style="float: left; margin-right: 10px;"><img src="url of your image"></div>

Just replace "url of your image" with the actual url of your image and then add your content beneath it.

This will place your image in the top left hand corner of your post with the text starting to the right of it and wrapping around it.

This should work for all fomats.

just go into your insert images (the little camera at the top ) when you have uploaded your image before you press insert image there are options to centre left or right just make sure you have it ticked before you insert.
    hope that helps

I know how to upload photos, not an issue, I am having an issue uploading the featured image and having it set off to the left of the blog post like in the pic I attached. When I load the photo as a featured image it is above the post regardless of what I do with the setting while uploading it.
