Trying to decide what to do.

I started a website about a month and a half ago. I was very new to keyword research and I used Market Samurai to find a keyword for my interest. I wanted to make a site about Disneyland. So I thought that I read the data correctly and found out that "Disneyland Blackout Dates" was a low competition and high global monthly searches keyword. So i purchased www. disneylandblackoutdates .com.

I created my site, put lots of content on it, loaded it up with adsense, created an amazon affiliate market store filled with Disney items, wrote a free e-book to help get an email list going, and sent out my first newsletter.

I am ranked 2nd on google for "Disneyland Blackout Dates" and am getting about 100 or so page views per day and maybe 1 adsense click every other day. No purchases from my Disney Amazon store. This month have made $7.00 from adsense.

I started to realize that blackout dates wasn't a good market. So I got a new domain that is now linked to my original domain. This one is called www. mouseinsight .com. It sounds a little more Disney friendly instead of just strictly blackout dates.

I am trying to figure out what keyword I should SEO for. I'm trying to figure out what will be the best way for me to go about starting to make a better income. The site looks great and I work about 4 hours per day on it.

What should I be doing or can do to make this more successful?

Anything helps.

Thanks in advance.

  • Good job on getting the site up

That "World of Color" photo looks really cool!

Try adding a lightbox for the Free Report opt-in form see if that boosts subscribers.

Good job on the site tho it looks good.

Hey thanks a lot. How would I add a light box? And what does that do? I'm guessing it just highlights the box that they input their info in? Please do correct me if I'm wrong. I am still fairly new at all of this.

Here's a lightbox demo> Popup Domination - Get More Subscribers & Make More Money In 2012!

Here's the homepage for the software> PopUp Domination

Also I've heard about a similar product that's free called "Welcome Gate" not sure if it has all the same features as Pop Up Domination

As far as your keywords, try targeting each post with a different keyword. Then as you build links to each post, use the same keywords at 20-40%. This way the over all site will rank for a number of keywords. Find some low KWs/products with 500-1000 searches in Google's keyword tool, write an article on that, then build some links to the post and main URL. Then do it again and again. As the site becomes stronger and ages, go for ever increasing competition.

If you're against SEO, then don't build links but still go the same route. It works.

As far as the website's main keywords, go for something with the word Disney for sure. But it's the posts you need to work with. Hope this is clear?

Thanks a lot. I haven't thought about backlinking for every single article. Thats a good idea. Thanks.

              Hello
I'm a newbie and I appreciate this post.
What do you mean by posting links to every article??? Those articles have to be on different pages, right? Or it's key word stuffing, right? Just trying to get some clarity, so I can apply these technics to my site...

              THANK YOU

Hey liquid. On my site I write a new page for each article then have a link to each article from my homepage. You can check it out at mouseinsight .com. Then after I write an article, I start backlinking for that article linking to that page. The more I do this for each article, the stronger the site becomes, the more people visit, the more chances for adsense clicks, affiliate link purchases and so on.

                I hope that helped.

Hi there, love your work! I get lazy with site building, but I love keyword research. Your original keyword Disneyland Blackout Dates, has really high local search, but low cpc and low adword competition <- which might be the reason why you are only earning $7 per month. Adword comp is important, the higher the comp, the more adword advertisers are there bidding on your keyword, which means more relevant adsense ads and has potential for high cpc. Since you are a hard worker, and put lots of time in your content, you can try aim for some med-difficult keywords but more relevant and higher in CPC and adword comp.

I just did a quick research you can consider ranking these keywords in your niche:
    hotels close to disney world
    disney cruise
    disney contemporary resort
    disney swan and dolphin
    disney polynesian resort
    disney swan
    where is disney world
    walt disney world dolphin

If you do more keyword research you probably find much better keywords, those are just some ideas to expand your site

I can only assume that Disneyland is not concerned about your first domain name. You have to watch some of those big names. They consider it some sort of trade infringement to have domains utilizing their company/trade name.

Since it's been up for a month so far, it's possible they don't care or just haven't discovered it yet. If they don't like it, they'll soon let you know.

In some cases, you can't bid on their trade names, either, like if you use Google Adwords. Something to consider.

Good luck with your new endeavour! It sounds like you're on the right track.

Thank you for your concern. The Disney fan sites are not an issue to Disney or Disneyland. That was my concern as well but found out it was all good.

      Thanks.

I don't have time right now to do any keyword research, but I see a few others have helped you out here.

I just want to mention, for a relative newcomer, your site looks awesome.

    Very engaging and attractive.

    Well done!

Your site looks good. Keyword research is the key to bring targeted traffic to your site. I suggest maybe going for the lower fruit keywords under 1K. If done correctly you can find several keywords related to your site that are easy to rank for and very targeted.

You might also try Youtube. Once your keyword research is done type the keywords into Google and see if any Youtube videos come up. If they do you know Google is ranking videos for that term and you can do the same.

If a video has under 20K views it is very easy to beat. Youtube videos are easy to rank this way and can drive a lot of traffic to your site.

Good luck and keep at it,

        Frankie

Thanks Frankie. I have been thinking about making a youtube video but wasn't sure what to make it about. I will think harder.
