Where can I sell a profitable blog?

I've had a blog for 2.5 years and its on the top of Google for a lot of hard to get keywords.
Its a real blog thats updated daily, has over 6,000 origionally written posts, is hooked in with a large media advertising group, has a great reputation, etc. a year ago it sometimes made $4-7k a month but lately its making a little under $2k a month because of the slow economy. it will bounce back though.

So anyways I want to sell it and see if I can get $50-60k for it. Can anyone recommend a firm that deals with the selling of websites? I tried on eBay and got nowhere with it.
I dont want to sell it on public forums. I want a private sale.
thanks

I wouldnt sell it for $24k.
Ill wait until the economy bounces back then try again. Thanks everyone

btw that formula of 1 years gross doesnt make sense to me. Why would someone sell an established business for 1 years profits? Then a year from now you have no website and no more profilts.
I would think 2 years would make more sense. but thats just me.
    Thank you for the feedback

It's because internet businesses aren't really like brick and mortar businesses that are often sold for several years of income. A website making $2k this month might be making $10k next month, or $50 next month. So people aren't willing to risk as much money on websites as they would be on something else.

You MIGHT find someone willing to pay more, but the norm for websites is usually 6-12 months income.

And people sell for that much very often, usually because they need quick cash for something or they just aren't interested in the site anymore.

As my esteemed friends have mentioned above, SP is probably the best bet for selling premium websites, may I also suggest that you check out the "archieved listings" to get a gauge of the type of sites selling and what the average price of each site is selling, this will give you a good indication to the question you posed about revenue selling multiple!.

Yes, you'll have to ask a lower amount -- Old world business included inventory. I don't think you blog has such stuff. Sitepoint should work. Why not also try to see if majoy advertisers on your site might want to purchase it? Just an idea.

    Success,

Here's a little trick I use to put my stuff out there.

    1. Get a free account with web-stat See an example of what kind of info you can get by looking at this website: http://www.CDBN.com

    2. Email me at mo@smokintimes.com and ask for your info I picked up when you went to my site if you need proof that is...Tell me what country and city and I'll give you more details like your IP address etc. If you come from the links on this page it'll show me you came from the warrior forum.

    3. Watch who consistently goes to your website on a daily basis.

    4. Google them.

    5. Send them an email and ask if they are interested in acquiring your website and domain name.

Look closely at who is visiting CDBN in my examples. These people visit my site (same IP address mind you) 3-5 times a day. I offered to sell to The National Bank of Canada but they are stiff necked on price. Eventually they'll buy if they want it. I'm showing them I know both they and their competitors are looking.

There is a link to web-stat on http://www.CDBN.com and you get the full blown program for 30 days.

I just dont think PerezHilton or LifeHacker would sell for 1 years income.
I think theyre established blogs with followings, like mine, and would sell for more.
Granted Im nowhere in the realm of those sites, but Im in the same business model of a consistent site that gets traffic from word of mouth and SEO, I dont pay a cent to advertise it.
    Thanks guys

The Nitro Marketing guys have a service where they sell sites at higher multiples if you pass through their filters. Here's the link Sell Your Website For a BIG Cash Payday with V.I.P.E.R.

You could also look at business brokers. They will take a cut, but will also get you a higher return.

Remember always check buyers info before giving over any control over your properties. I recently had very bad experience with site selling. You live and learn, next time I remember to do my homework.
