How to Write a Great About Me Page for My Blog?

I have started a new blog on blogging. However, the problem is my About Me page is too short to describe. It's just a one liner. Got any tip and advice?
Here is my About Me page for your consideration.
#about me #about page #about us #blog #effective #great #page #write

    1. Who is make money kid? At least attach a pen name to it.

    2. What is Make Money Kid doing and what does he plan to do later?

    3. When did Make Money Kid get started, when did they see success, etc.?

    4. Where has Make Money Kid seen success? Think niches, relevant websites, offline sources, etc.

    5. Why should the reader care about Make Money Kid? Establish your value here.

Then end off with how you live with your wife and dog in Maine or something.

Hmm....those leading words look familiar. Looks like they did teach us something in school after all .

        Example: Who is Joseph Robinson?

Joseph wasn't born a great writer. He was pushed through the less than satisfactory Florida education system, learning only to write bland essays that chronologically listed facts and little else. Upon graduating from High School, Joseph spent a few years meandering between community college, a job at Burger King, and countless shiny IM projects.

This trend continued until the summer of 2011, when Joseph finally pulled in his first writing client. He was told to "inject some personality" into an ebook rewrite. Joseph was apprehensive, not knowing exactly how that was supposed to be done. That first client was more than satisfied though, calling the work "amazing!". The confidence boost sent Joseph down a path towards writing stardom.

      Joe,

Right up the road from you in Jacksonville, Florida, and could not agree more. As usual, you give great writing advice.

But I must admit that you pointed out an extremely easy to use outline that I have never before used.

Well played, sir. I will be employing your About Me Outline in the near future.

      Thanks,

      Patrick

I notice the site is billed as both the "ultimate guide to pro blogging, niche and affiliate marketing." as well as "the ultimate guide to six figures online."

So I think it makes sense to use the about page to describe how you got to six figures online, your own successes with pro blogging, niche and affiliate marketing, and the general story on why people should trust you as an expert.

    Cheers,
    Ryan

Looking at the information the OP has on their blog so far (which is very generic), I get the feeling that they aren't actually making 6 figures. Just another newbie that thinks selling make money online products is how you are supposed to make money online.

Still, the above advice applies to any niche, so I still stand by it, even though I expect this site to ultimately fail like the rest of the wannabe IM crowd.

Kind of what I was trying to scratch at without saying it quite so overtly! haha.

On that subject you have to be overt. The newbie doesn't know otherwise and won't realize that there are lines they are supposed to be reading between .

I won't deny but it's true. I had made money but not six figures. Measuring my past blogging experience I thought this time I could make six figures easily. But to my surprise I'm having more difficulty. I'm loosing my confidence.

Joseph, I think he may have meant to ask what you mean by "attach a pen name to it".

MakeMoneyKid, in the world of writing (online or offline), a pen name is basically a fancy way of saying "fake name". Authors use pen names for different reasons. Sometimes to make it fit their 'story' better, sometimes to change the gender (male name instead of female or vice versa), sometimes just because they'd rather not display their real name for everyone to see, etc. Using pen names is very common on the internet especially.

In my knowledge, using pen names is perfectly legal as long as you ONLY use it for the purpose of substituting your name name on material which you write. You can't go and make a whole fake identity around it and try to get it it's own social security # and what not. (thought I would throw in that disclaimer).

So I think what Joseph was trying to say there was, in order to establish credibility and come across as a real person, to at least use a name (even if not your real name) instead of just writing "MakeMoneyKid" every where.

Thanks for covering the other base, I went with an example because that is what he asked of the very next poster as well (who offered the same advice). I'll add on top that you should give full disclosure that the name is in fact a pen name (in fact companies like Clickbank now require it). You don't have to give away your real identity; but you do need to inform your readers/customers that the person they are reading from is not one that they can hope to meet at a convention for whatever your niche is.

Glad to help. This stuff can usually broken down into something simple. Keep in mind that this doesn't make it easy to execute though.

Writing your about me page! Woo.

First off let me give you a tip. Scrap the "About Me" page, and make it a Post instead.

So how do you write a good first post that introduces yourself. Well my coach always tells me that the most important thing to do when making content, is to base it around an event.

So what is your event? Well you tell me? Have you lost a job? Does your job suck? Why do you want to Blog? Why are you trying to make money online?

It is really important to bring out your pain in the post. Tell people what's affecting you, and create emotion to the post. Don't worry about it sounding good, or making yourself sound as good as you can. Dude that's not interesting! Readers want stories. Story telling is the real secret to writing amazing copy and sales letters.

Read those sales pages dude, look at how the marketers refer to themselves and link themselves into the pitch, their past experiences and times they have been hurt/been happy.

So for me, I wrote about my redundancy. I wrote about me needing cash to get married next year. I wrote about How I failed internet marketing a few years ago. I wrote about why I want to try making money online; i.e. my motivators - working from home, being with my family, etc.

    Just write an honest post:

    1. Who are you (name/where you from)
    2. Tell us about you? (What you have done, and what was bad about it, what was good about it, tell us your EXPERIENCES, not just little facts, tell us how you FELT about your experiences, and how they have led you to this first post)
    3. So where are you right now? (i.e. what is your current position? Are u broke? Homeless? Naked? Having prostitute sex? Whatever, just tell us! Then tell us your emotions and how it makes you feel!)
    4. Where do you WANT TO GO (tell us your aspirations!)
    5. Leave it open!

By number 5, I mean don't try close the post. Don't give it an ending/conclusion. Instead, ask a question at the end. This leaves it open for discussion, and also prompts the readers to ask more questions.

Let me know how you get on and if you need more help. I'd be more than happy to read over your rough draft and making more suggestions. I love to write and I'll help if you want.

    Cheers

    Joey

Have you looked at other About Me pages to get some inspiration? Don't ask others to help you write about you - what do you want your readers to know or understand about you?

My About Me page is one of the pages with highest views on my blog.

Be personal - give them a sneak peak at you, up close and personal.

Different perspectives for men and women, I'm sure, but this is where I like to get to know the person, not necessarily the entrepreneur...

    Just my 2 cents.
