Critique My Email Marketing Strategy

5 replies
I've set up a fitness blog now.

Here's how I've set up my email marketing campaign.

3 optin forms
  • after each blog post
  • ontop of sidebar
  • 'special' ebook tab on front page top menu

--------------------------

This is the first list

When people click on the ebook tab, they're transported to a squeeze page. If they opt-in here they are on the early bird list for the new ebook.

So far 30 people have viewed that page, and 13 people have opted in. So it's currently a 43% opt-in rate.

---------------------------

This is the second list

On the sidebar the CTA is opt-in to recieve a free sample of the new ebook. So far the rate is 0.5% .

When people receive the sample they will also receive regular updates.

    I like the optin strategy, 43% tells me you are offering something people want in a tasteful way (which probably means they'll buy more in the long run if you work them correctly with a long term email campaign) than if you had 70% with some hypey offer.

    Two keys: 1) generate high levels of relevant traffic to build list fastest
    2) create a 45 day engagement campaign for the optins and get them buying multiple items fast

    Have you thought about starting a group coaching program, but don't know how?

      Thanks

      I'm kinda disappointed with the 0.5% optin rate for the sidebar widget form though. Looks like I'll have to test different designs.

    The best advice anyone can give you is to test constantly and use what works best. Every audience is different and they will respond different depending on how they are conditioned to act.

    The 43% conversion rate means people are interested in your ebook offer. The .5% could mean a number of things but what comes to mind is that you may need to test what you offer there. It may be a case of conversion cannibalization.

    heres the new page i'm experimenting with. click my sign to see full page but basically:

    Red = links to homepage
    Green = email optin boxes
    Blue = links to other pages

    Trick being, to try to direct people to optin and buy. Still in beta though.

    You're actually getting a 48% conversion rate in your website:

    43% goes to your "below the post" optin box and 5% goes to your "ontop of sidebar" optin box.

    Just retire the optop of sidebar box and I'm sure you will see an increase in your main optin box
