e.g. Wordpress, PHP, templates, etc.

As you can see, I'm not a pro with the terminology.

I have seen a nice one made on Wordpress with eShop theme which had inbuilt affiliate options. If you can find those options you need built into the theme it saves the trouble of having to fins seperate plug ins or solutions.

Hand code those suckers with PHP because you can cram thousands of affiliate sites onto a basic hosting account if you do it with simple html and php...whereas wordpress is a massive resource hog that requires much more hosting space and bandwidth.

If you're only going to run a few sites...then wordpress is much easier. But if you're going to scale...take the time to learn how to fumble around with php.

There are plenty of help that you can find in the web all you have to do is to research a bit about wordpress and look for themes that will make your blog looks like a magazine or an informative one.

My vote also goes to Wordpress. As for themes - depends on the affiliate products you promote.

If you are promoting physical product a theme that enhance images will do better in my opinion.

If you are promoting other stuff any theme with a design that look familiar to the authorities in the niche will be fine.

For amazon affiliate sites for example I don't like at all the complicated themes sold here on the forum that transform your website in another amazon lookalike website... It may look ok to you as the site owner, since you have the impression your website is full of products and stuff, but for the visitors it's a pain to find something they are interested in buying...
