[Newbies Should Read This] What Internet Marketing Really Is

I think this should be addressed as I see so much newbies having trouble wrapping their head around this.

Internet Marketing is a Business.

Technically, Internet Marketing in itself isn't a business, its just a means to an end. Whatever you plan to do via IM is a business. Once you start thinking that way, things will start making sense to you. No matter what business you're into whether it is CPA, offline marketing, affiliate marketing, product creation etc. They all follow one simple idea.

Find a hungry market
Provide Value
Profit

Yes, its simple BUT the main problem is that there is literally thousands of ways to do it. Think of this, if you're traveling from Point A to Point B, you can get there via an airplane, boat, car or simply by walking. Each method has their pros and cons. Walking is free but its time consuming and difficult whereas an airplane is the most expensive but gets you there the fastest.

What most newbies end up doing is taking a piece of the airplane, boat, horse, and legs just to go around in circles.

Have a PLAN
I've seen many people advise to 'just do it' which in itself is bad advice. Research is just as important as taking action. Do your due diligence and form a solid plan. Every business has a plan mapped out from beginning to the end.

This is also where the majority of newbies go astray. During the 'research phase' they stumble upon a brand new idea and start chasing after that one, soon enough they come across yet another new 'shiny object'.

Stick With it
FOCUS. Stay steady. Have faith in the method you've chosen to research. A lot of WSOs are rehashed content for a reason: they do work. Its just a matter of time and commitment you put into it. Once you start something, see through it to the end.

JUST DO IT
Many newbies fail to start their IM career because of fear. Either they don't have the confidence or are skeptical if it will work or not. Truth is, you'll never know until you try. You can have all the knowledge in the world but its worthless unless put into action.

GROW
This is the true success formula for any business. Even if your first venture flops, it doesn't mean the method doesn't work. There's a myriad of reasons why it failed, it could be the sales copy, traffic, website, marketing etc Its your job to tweak it until it profits.

All you really need to do is Just find something that works and put it on steroids.

Your Internet Business is your baby. You nurture it and grow it, once you start profiting, you scale it. Internet Marketing is an ever changing journey where you learn and grow. It may take you a week, a month or years to reach your goals but I guarantee you, once you do, you'll always set new goals. You just never stop.

Conclusion
So is there a 'secret' to making it rich online? Maybe. It really depends on how you view it. Everyone has their own way of doing things, I'd say there is a secret but its not universal. Its the same concept as 'Because everyone's unique, no one is' When you get down to it, everyone's has their own unique abilities and traits, you just have to find something that works for you.

So here's my story:

I started out three months ago, like many newbies, I was chasing dreams, distracted and disappointed. I lurked the Warrior Forum soaking up all kinds of information and I was just overwhelmed. Information Overload.

It was only when I stopped, sat down and committed to one method (List building) I finally changed my life for the better. I'm not going to claim I suddenly became rich or anything, far from that.

The first week was terrible, spent a lot of money on Solo Ads only to get a list of freebie seekers. No profit, in fact, I lost money. The second week wasn't too good either.

But I kept at it.

I started tweaking my methods, finding new sources of traffic, finding better ways to improve my sales funnel. Strategically structure my email marketing to make more sales.

I finally broke even at the end of the first month. After that, I started seeing some profit, albeit small but profit nonetheless.

More tweaking, more research and study, improvements here and there.

Now I crank out about $60 a day and its steadily growing.

So guys, don't give up. Stay consistent and focused. Its a business you're building and not a scheme. Good Luck to all you Newbies out there!

Cheers,
Marco

thanks for the post.. but what u just listed is really what anyone of us should start with.. the problem is how to track and fine tune the strategy in order to get better and better results.. how to be stayed motivated and focus and yeah.. like most gurus.. IMHO, like what you said are 'don't tell everything u know' are the real skills that everyone learns to pick which I am trying too

    Excellent Post Marco...
I like it and agree with you 100%

I see so many people just telling people to take action, I really feel a lot of people are doing it without getting a plan in place.

So, taking action with a plan is definitely the way to go.

Then, sticking with it long enough to take hold, and avoiding distractions is the next challenge many face.

Finally testing, fine tuning and repeating what works..

With all that in mind, it's not that hard to succeed.

      Great post Marco,

You have a great! attitude as well,
when things weren't working you "stuck to your guns"
instead of finding something else to try/buy..

All the best at adding more zeros on the end of the
      $60/day..

Happy to know my little post helped you Just note that free traffic is a long and arduous road but worth every bit of effort in the long run. In this case, its perfectly fine if you go for all kinds of free traffic, just find one that works for you and then put that on autopilot!

    Hi Marco

I agree with lots of what you say... to a point. Internet marketing is NOT a business. It's one way you can promote and advertise your business.

Product creation is a business, website designing is a business, executive coaching is a business. I really think the belief Internet marketing itself is a business can confuse people new to the world of "money making."

You're spot on when you talk about "providing value." That's the foundation for any successful business. The very first thing you should ask when you decide to go into business is, "what do I know, and what can I create which will add value to people's lives? What knowledge do I have that can help other people?"

Do that, then worry about using the Internet to market yourself. As you say Marco, focus, hard work, and value is key.

That's a great point you have there. Yes, Internet Marketing in itself isn't a business, its a means to an end.

But then this can be quite subjective because people have different meanings pertaining to Internet Marketing. An offline marketer would have a different perspective on it compared to one who's made all his money online.

Don't worry - if you keep working as hard as it sounds like you have you'll get there in the end.

You've done the hard part which is to create a system which gets you more revenue than it costs to make it, so if you keep working and build on that system the sky is the limit.

Thanks for sharing your success so far, it's always nice to see people getting profitable so quickly. For most IMers it takes years.
