where do I start, want to be an internet marketer

I have decided that I want to make a living online, and am brand spanking new at this
And was hoping to get some solid advice as where to start, I have no site, mailing list,
Or product to sell. I am starting from scratch!
Also I am not trying to intrude , or am a tire kicker I have decided this is what
I want to do and would appreciate any advice given

    There's alot to learn: Marketing, copywriting, advertising, website development, traffic, etc.

    You should probably start off with affiliate marketing, and get a website. If this intimidates you... sell stuff on ebay. You'll make money fast - especially if you sell your valuable "old" household items.

    Get these two steps down solid and the rest will flow:

    1) Pick a market you know you can provide value to.
    2) Pick a segment of that market, then most importantly, define your ideal customer in as much detail as you can.

    Once you've done that, then everything, whether that be writing articles, making videos, writing emails, creating products will be far easier because you know EXACTLY what you're doing to who and why.

    Of course there are specific skills you'll have to learn initially, like how to actually communicate with people to get them to take your desired action, how to write an effective autoresponder series etc, but all this will come much easier because you'll have a solid foundation if you put the effort into defining your perfect customer. It's surprising how a lot of IM'ers don't take the effort to do this.

    Watch this video, it'll help with what I just mentioned.:
    So if your starting from scratch, knowing your target is the best thing you can do to begin with.

    Give some thought to your skills, talents and pursuits that you find pleasure in and use those. That will make it much easier to put in the hard work, whether that be building affiliate sites, creating products, or whatever.

    And definitely check out the links in Adie's list!

      BS .. too much build it and they will come. Money seldom automatically comes to you in the real world. My passion is eating beans and farting Dixie. My butt is out of tune so the MP3 sales are nonexistent. Some people have gone so far to state my music stinks.

    Have you decide what area that you'd like to have? since there are many kind of niche you can jump into. Affiliate marketing, list building, SEO, product, product creation, or anything else.

    You got to pick which one you interest most. After choose the niche you will start learn, digging more details and start action in the same time..

        My first money was in adsense. Free tutorials online. Learn wordpress setup, not as hard as it seems. This stopped me for a long time. Now I can whip up a site in minutes. Be very careful on this forum, its easy to get sucked into the wso trap. Lots of good ones here though. Most important, when you decide what to do, put the blinders on and devote all your time to one project

    One thing I can tell you. Dont try to teach people how to make money online when you havent made money online. We have enough of those.

    What ever path you take, master one skill at a time. Take it slow. This will not happen over night.

      I disagree for a newbie to get a FREE website built from the word GO because there is hosting fees which will not be used by the newbie for a while if ever. I would say to look at building traffic then look at an affiliate program, ie: Click Bank, they will show you how.
      I am new and I wished that I did not go in for a website as advised so soon. It is just eating money.

    Don't learn, that's a never ending process, and prevented many a would be IM'er from every getting out of the gate. I should know.

    SELL instread. Find a hungry market, a product that is selling well, build a site, drive targeted (ready to buy) traffic to it.

      I can't see it, how does a FREE GIFT cost $7.00. It is either a freee gift or you would show a newbie how to overcome a problem and the costs would be > $XXX. I wish people would come clean at the first instant. Another thing that gets me is the way up-sells are presented. Let one know that the initial costs is $XXX and also there is an opportunity to increase your profits by buying in further. One is then prepared to do X or Y

    When you start out I am a big fan of NOT spending money. You can watch Ed Dale and do his challenge at challenge.co since that is free and you can also read in the war room.

    You need to find out if you like this business before you spend a lot of money. Also, if you save your money until you know something you can buy in an area that you are wanting to move into.

    Take it from somebody that wasted way to much $$$....lol
