How much is too much for an ebook?

For most of August and some of September, I've been selling my CPA ebook for 50$. I sold a good amount of copies, but I was wondering if I should have sold it for less, maybe half of that to make more money.

$50 for an eBook thesedays seems good money to me. You say you've sold a good amount, my question is why risk less? If you can't resist decreasing the price, you should definitely split test.

I just increased the price of mine from £9.97 (about $16) to £24.97 ($40). I seriously upped my game on my sales page too. Its early days but it doesn't seem to have effected my sales levels.

It depends on the market. In the poker niche, there are several 3 and 4 figure e-books that regularly sold before poker's Black Friday.

For example, at Daily Variance, you can still see a collection of e-books for just over $1k and another single book just under $1k.

So again, it depends on the market and the value of your information. That being said, poker players could establish their authority pretty easily because you simply can't sit down at the $10k tables if you suck at poker (unless your money comes from another source or you are the CEO of Facebook).

in my experience the lower the price the worst your experience. low end products usually draw the worst type of customer. the one that wakes up after 12pm, more likely to do a chargeback without contacting you first, won't read a description of the product, etc If I had a choice I would only deal with high end customers.

I agree with StingGB. You should test it out. It really depends on your target market. For some markets, $50 is way too much while it can be the base price for other niches. I suggest you implement a limited-time sale so you can do a split test.

Yeah, it really depends on the market. If it's more of a course, you can easily sell it for a few hundred if it's the right niche. Other niches though I wouldn't go over $30.
