If this were you. What would you do?

I have a social network site on a top level domain and it's ranking well for several keywords in google and bringing in leads.

I have a new ecommerce site that is on the subdomain of the top level domain. It is generating lots of traffic to the subdomain and sales are going well.

The problem is that the e-commerce script is causing confusion for users and has a lot of bugs in it.

I have a similar e-commerce script that is better ,but I'm not able to bridge it to the social network to allow single login for users.

So?

Which is best?

1. Leave everything the way it is and wait for updates to the buggy script.

2. Put the better e-commerce script on the subdomain and ask users to dual login.

3. Put the better e-commerce script on a separate low level domain (.net) then send users to that and let it grow.

4. Pull my hair out.

Any other suggestions would be helpful. Thanks everybody.

Hmm, i would leave option 4 for what it is

Why not option 5 hire a freelancer who alters the script for you so users can single login?

Yeah, I was told by a developer that it couldn't be done.

Hrm.. try asking another developer.. even check out developers on Fiverr, some of them are really good at what they do.

Sometimes one person might tell you it can't be done but another will complete the task! Just gotta shop around for a good programmer.

Well, the script is obviously broken and needs to get fixed. I'm of the mindset that if something doesn't work... then fix or throw it away.

Don't know exactly which direction you should go, but I would encourage you to keep looking for a coder who understands the problem and can offer a solution (or at least ideas; which is an indicator or a good coder).

Yeah. Am in favour of asking for another coder. Sometimes it's true that it technically can't be done. Other times though the reason it said that it can't be done is because of communication issues, laziness, the non technical guy insisting on the way it needs to be done technically despite not having a clue on the technical issues involved etc. Good luck

I would leave the system you have working alone or you will risk losing your keyword ranking. Then, I would start looking hard for a freelancer who may be able to fix it. It may be causing confusion for users but atleast you have users.

    Have you tried Freelancer.com?

I would have to agree with what has already been said. Find a freelance coder to get the job done for you.

If it were me I would get on to elance and attach a copy of the script to the job description. Then spell out exactly what you want done. Only hire a coder that guarantees your satisfaction and offers a fair number of revisions.
