Traffic V Conversions

I see alot of talk on the internet about traffic but not as much about conversions
To me they are both just as important as each other.

the way I see it is...
If you had a ton of traffic going to your website but conversions were really low then you would struggle to make a solid income

or you could be only getting a small amount of traffic to your website but get more conversions than a web site which has ten times the traffic.

I think when it comes down to it the most important thing is to have a good website which gives VALUE

When it comes to the internet it seems to be a numbers game.

    Definitely.

They are both equally as important, but it all comes in time. I think most people don't get past the hurdle of drivign traffic unfortunately, so never get to learning about conversions. First step is learning to get that traffic, then when the traffics there, look at how to improve your conversions.

    All about taking baby steps.

I agree with that, in so far as internet marketing incomes tend to be dependent on quality and relevance.

I don't agree with that at all. I think "quantitative approaches" (to most everyday issues in internet marketing) are the main reason that such a high proportion of people fail. I think that most questions that start with the words "How many .... ?" are misguided and that the people asking them have little hope of learning what they actually need to learn, to start earning money, because internet marketing incomes tend to be dependent on quality and relevance.

Coming back to your title, "Traffic v Conversions", I think it's easy to build up the traffic after the site's reliably converting. To try to get traffic, in bulk, first and then worry about the conversion rates after that is really putting the cart before the horse. Just like almost everything else in IM, in other words: start from the perspective of quality, and worry about quantity later.

Quality leads everywhere - including, eventually, to quantity; quantity alone leads nowhere.

Internet maybe about number, but to attract a targeted people is definitely needs more than just traffic. Quality is what really matter, don't get the wrong idea. Conversion rate is your goal, not the traffic.
