Where is the best place to start when it comes to building a list?

That's a pretty loaded question. Definitely get a autorepsonder like Aweber or GetResponse. Learn how to use it and set up your follow up emails. There are a ton of email marketing courses out there but the basics is that you should build a relationship with the list, that's where the money's at.

Once you have your email sequence done then get your squeeze page and offer set up with a host like hostgator. I'm pretty sure you know what squeeze pages are. The offer is extremely important though, it has to be quality. It doesn't matter if its just one page but as long it has great value (example, a secret technique) then that's the first step of having your prospects trusting you and therefore increase your conversion rates.

The last component is traffic, this is a huge topic by itself but I'll try to keep it short. There's free traffic that takes time and effort and then there's paid traffic which you can lose your shirt if you don't know what you're doing. I personally use paid traffic like Solo Ads to send leads to my squeeze page.

There you go, List Building Basics 101. If you got more questions, let me know

    Cheers,
    Marco

This is the best response you could get.

Start with the result and work backwards.

Decide on your ideal customer, research the hell out of them - and then work out what motivates them, how they talk, where they hang out.

Then, once you have that down, you will understand the things that cause them pain - get an optin form up, and give them it, in return for their email address.

"Listen to me. Learn from me. I was not the best because I killed quickly. I was the best because the crowd loved me. Win the crowd and you will win your freedom." - Gladiator

Nurture those people like they're paying you for your attention.

You don't want a list, you want a bunch of people who love you and are hungry for what you can offer them.

    Hi Tim,

Like any business model you have to get your feet wet and then improve from there.

Start with something you can give away for FREE to allow people a big enough reason to sign up to your email list.

Get a squeeze page set up and auto-responder of course as you mentioned you already know a bit about anyway so thats good.

Focus on traffic and get that initial momentum going and don't look back!

You can always improve along the way so don't worry if you get it wrong the first time.

If you're determined enough you won't worry about making mistakes anyway!

Go for it and just take that first step!

You won't regret it I promise you that.

All the best & have a great weekend!!!

Another way is to start building relationships with people you know who have large lists. Honestly get to know them, talk with them, and support them.

Get to the point where this person can become your affiliate down the line.

That way, when you have a squeeze page up and ready, you'll not only have someone who will send traffic to it, they'll be a lot more genuine when talking you up their own subscribers.

Honestly, based on my opinion if you do not have much money I would tell you to build a list by niche related forum marketing which gives you laser targetered traffic . Always remember one thing don't spam affiliate products to your list. Instead I would suggest you to make them feel curious to receive your emails by giving them free valuable stuff related to the niche you promoting. This in turn will help you build a good relationship with your list giving you the opportunity to earn $$$.

For once lots of good advice here.

Think about who your target market is and what they want, and how you can build up a relationship with them and sell a product / service related to this.

Pick something that you have a passion for and learn list building and in terms of a mentor pick someone who has a style that you like. For example some people teach the hard sell straight out of the box, whilst others go for the relationship - both will work if applied correctly, but you need to decide which model fits your personality best.

Getting started is the hardest part. A growing list is great motivation, in my experience. Solo ads are an easy way to get the list started... easy and straightforward. They've gone a little stale now maybe but a good place to start, then you can follow up with ad swaps, before going on to generate your own traffic.

    Good Luck.

An easy way and cheap way to get started is to. Get an adwords voucher. Setup a landing page with a signup box. I also recommend offering some time of ebook related to your niche for new signups. That way there is more incentive for them to start over.
