Taking phone payments?

Hi,

I just wanted to find out more about taking phone payments from clients... is it all right to use processors like paypal, gumroad to enter in the customers' details on the payment form and treat it just as if it were a virtual terminal to enter the client's details?

I realise that for processors like clickbank this will not work since they specifically say on their webpage that the geographic location (ip) is being logged and fraud attempts will be prosecuted. This means even if you process payments for your clients, they will treat this as fraud.

I also notice that newer processors like gumroad or older ones like paypal dont specify this (logging IPs) , i dont really know if my method would work or if i would have to get myself a merchant account with a virtual terminal for my staff to enter orders?

Thanks!

P.S. the way i learnt about this alternative method is because order taking services out there mention that they could process payments if you have a website by keying orders into the payment page on your website without the use of a virtual terminal...

I use paypal payflo pro for my merchant. and they have what is called "virtual terminal" which allows you to process payments any time any place. also, I like their invoice feature. I can email a customer a invoice and they can pay via email if they want.
