Hmmm Blog or Youtube?

Hey guys, not too long ago I started a blog and a Youtube channel at the same time.

Overtime I realized making videos was more of my thing compared to writing (I always had crappy grades in English). So naturally I focused more on my Youtube Channel and my blog's content and traffic came to a screeching halt.

Any advice as to where I go from here? Restart the blog? Focus on Youtube? Whats the pros and cons of each of them? Also... im like 80% done on an Ebook... where to go from here...should I sell it on Youtube... sorry for all these newbie questions... any advice will be greatly appreciated!

what do you mean by outsource the copy?? U mean for affiliates to sell for me? or get it outsourced to get finished...?

Yes, outsource the copy means that you can ask somebody to finish article writing for you, so you don't have to write it by yourself. You can find many article writers in the "warrior for hire" section.

It will much better if you could combined the youtube video with the website content...to get maximum result

        Cheers,
        Bizamanda

Maybe glowworm meant, outsource writers to write content for you and then you could continue with your youtube posting.

        Hi,

I definitely recommend both especially the blog.

Set yourself up some kind of alert and use it to force yourself yto post once a day to your blog.

You could be posting about the video you put up on you tube, your day, ideas etc, IMO a blog is a must now a days.

You must need a blog it doesn't matter how good you are doing with your Youtube channel. Try to focus on blog and publish quality videos on youtube and drive traffic form there and try to make money using your traffic in a useful way where visitors will also get benefited.

    Thanks

Id say focus on youtube if that's what you enjoy doing.
But don't leave the blog to die completely.
Try using youtube as a way of driving traffic to your blog.

I combined my YouTube videos with my blog! Ranked on the 1st page of google for my specific keywords in just 12 days. I say add videos inside your blog with good content. Worked for me.

I figured my blog domain name is not that great, paid for hosting for 3 years already w bluehost. is there anything I can do? get a refund or change the name? Thanks once again you guys are the best

Domain name and hosting are different. Hosting is the place where you park the domain. Domain itself is the address, and you can change the domain name by buying the new one that will only cost you a few bucks (way cheaper than 3 years hosting rent )

      Hope it's help
      Cheers,
      Amanda

I would do youtube if you are not good with english *grammar and etc*... and it seems you are more passionate about it anyway. Source somebody from freelancer.com to do a blog for you, that has excellent writing skills. Do SEO. With all that in mind, you will profit with both ideas (youtube and blog)

Just post the videos on your blog!

Who ever said you needed written content to call it a blog?

Well, a lot of people I guess but that's not the point! lol

YouTube loves when the videos are embedded, so if you embed the video on your site and that post gets shared, your video will have more importance in YouTube search AND Google.

Especially if you focus on building an audience in Google+ (hint)

I would also suggest linking your blog and YouTube account to Google+ if you haven't already so you can have your picture show up next to search results.

I do both a blog and YouTube (and G+) and have been gradually getting better results every week which is sweet.

All in all, I would say focus on YouTube and simply embed the video on your blog as a new post.

It's your choice whether you want to promote the video or the blog post after that.

    Hope this helps!

What gjohansson1 said above, plus I'll add that you should create short summaries of the video on the blog, as well, for SEO and to make it easier for people to decide if it's worth watching or not.

Having your own blog has a lot of advantages over Youtube: you can do whatever you want there, you can host the videos anywhere and play them on your blog (in case YT decides to suspend your account for some reason or you upload a sensitive video), you have more control over monetization, and it's generally better long term.

turn your blog into a vlog, and underneath each youtube video link it back to the blog url.

On the blog just write bullet points of what is covered in the video, and encourage people to share the content socially to get and get a bit of viral action going on.

Use both to drive traffic... Add a blog article that talks about your YouTube video then add a link to your blog that points to that YouTube video.

I'd use both Blogspot and YouTube. You'll get the best of both worlds. =)

Youtube is your strength. I'd continue with that ...and...i'd look at developing it further..

Look at why you think you need a blog, then try to replicate that same experience or effect with youtube.

If you can't, then rather than outsource your blog, make it meaningful with a quality over quantity approach.

I would merge the two together - Blog -Youtube....like if you'd have a Youtube channel for your blog!

YT brings quicker money! - I always prefer YouTube...but with YT i always feel like i don't own anything that i post!

    Seriously, I would do both.

Make Youtube videos then post them onto your Blog. All you have to do is a little bit of writing with it saying something like...

    1. Say hi to your readers

    2. Tell 'em about the vid and how it will help them

    3. Then below the video, ask them what they think and to share their way/methods/secrets/opinions etc.

Regarding the writing. I use to HATE writing but over the years, the more I've done it, the better I've got at it.

At first I was always trying to write the perfect Blog post but as time went by, I developed my style of writing and now I can bash out articles in just a few minutes (Providing I'm knowledgable on the subject that is).

    Hope this helps.

      I second James here.

Also May I add, that your video's can be used for SEO on your blog. Get the plugin wpSpoiler and use it to hide the transcriptions of your video content. That way you get the beefits of both Vlogin & Blogging. I sue it on my blog all the time as I prefer to do videos rathe than write.

Secondly to benefit from the crowd conversations you manage to build on your YouTube channel get the plugin Genki Comments and have your YouTube comments show actomatically on your blog. This again will help your post's get ranked and SEO standings.

If you are not good at something, focus on something you are good at, otherwise you will keep going the hurdles. Hire someone to focus on generating quality sales copy and implement your youtube videos with the sales material and post them on your blog.

Why don't you just combine the two and create a video blog. You can link your videos to your blog so that they can see your other vids.

    Hi,

I'd say you keep both. If you're not good in writing, then you can definitely outsource this thing. Leave that to the experts. Concentrate more on YouTube if its your expertise.
