Use of YouTube videos on my site ?

Hey Everyone!

I just want to verify this, what is the copyright law for using other peoples YouTube videos on my site. I simply want to insert a YouTube player on my site showing someone else's video. Are there any risks involved in doing this ?

Obviously I do not plan on claiming that I own copyright to the video.

Thanks in advance.

What you want to do is perfectly legal. On Youtube people can disable the embedding capabilities of their videos. All the videos who have embedding enabled can be shared without consent from owner/uploader.

This question seems to be asked on a weekly basis.

When people upload their videos to Youtube, they have an option of allowing embedding of their videos or not. And most people allow the embedding of their videos.

if they allow embedding, then Youtube even gives you the code to embed the video under the "Share" button.

So the answer is, yes it is OK to embed Youtube videos that give you the embed code on your pages.

As long as you don't claim that the video is exclusively yours and acknowledge the other person's ownership, you're fine. People embed YT vids that aren't theirs everywhere.

Ok, thank you everyone! Hopefully the video I would like to use is available to embed!

I chose entrepreneurship over further education despite being laughed at by my friends and family..

I recently hit the "RESTART" button on my life, read my personal blog to find out how I did it :)

Attn Andy Henry: I made my "repeat" post at the same time as Allen Payne, so I have an excuse. Not sure about those that came after, although they came only a few minutes apart, so let's give them the benefit of the doubt..

I also read a lot about this. If you want to use Adsense on your site you need to have some content as well. You can't only have embed Youtube video's on your site. Hope this helps!
