Is it best for a site to focus on one niche?

Hi everyone. I wanted to create a new site promoting products on Amazon. I've had some success with Amazon's affiliate program before.

Would it be best for me to focus the site on one niche or a few? Here's what I mean. The site could be focused on promoting hdtv's or it could be focused on promoting lots of electronics e.g, digital cameras, hdtv's and laptops.

All opinions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Adam

Generally, a single product is easier to market than a range of products...unless you are a supermarket.

If you do want to look at groups of products, I'd stick to a theme... say, HD TV's, Video Cameras and Video players/recorders as that are all TV related. Digital Cameras and Laptops are not directly related to the range and I would suggest having separate sites for those or removing them from the list.

Especially with Amazon it is really difficult to promote MANY products and be able to RANK high on Google.

With amazon it is better to focus on a group of very related products like: electrical power tools!

Another trick with Amazon is to rank for products that are not yet released!

This applys to all niche sites. Don't try to build a wikipedia instead choose one specific niche.

And products that are not released yet are easier to rank but it may be much harder to find information about them and it might take a while before you would start getting sales (you would need to wait for it to get released first).

In the end I think it's much better, especially when you're a 'one man band.'

It's usually easier to focus on one niche/topic/product type per website.
