What would YOUR battle plan be for this specific aim?

Hi all,

newbie here, very impressed with the quality and volume of information here, and hoping to have found a good place to get started with this new adventure of mine. And no, I don't expect to get rich, at least not quickly.

I'm trying to be systematic about learning more, and this post is part of my efforts. If you could take a moment and share your thoughts on the following with me, I would really appreciate that.

Background

I have built a few little wordpress pages, a couple forums in phpbb and MyBB, done some HTML and CSS - am even beginning to make a few tiny first dollars from some of this, and after reading more about IM, the feeling keeps growing on me that there could be more in it for me - both fun and money.

I have a few specific ideas where I see a demand that isn't met by anyone else, but the more I learn about IM, the more opportunities I seem to see, and I have to stop for a bit right now and take the time to take a much deeper look and decide what I actually want to put my time into, both in terms of aims and methods.

Amongst many other sources, I have downloaded the obviously fantastic platinum deal of the Ken Strong Cancer Benefit here on the forums, and am starting to work through it. Thank you to all contributors of this package, and of course most importantly, all the very best to Ken and his family!

What I want to achieve

=> I have around 20 hours per week at my disposal.

=> I would like to use about half of that to generate a humble but somewhat steady income in a reasonably quick way (yeah I know, feel free to laugh at my expense!). To be more specific, anywhere between a few hundred to maybe a couple thousand dollars per month would meet that definition for me. I won't define "quick", because that depends on too many factors.

=> The other ten hours, I would like to work on the more long term goal of a more serious income.

=> Ideally, I would like both parts to be compatible with each other, meaning, the longer term goal work being able to build on the results of the shorter term work, or the shorter term goal work being able to be expanded into something bigger.

My Questions

1. What would be YOUR suggestion for a basic battle plan to achieve this? I'm not asking you to hold my hand, if you can post a rough bullet point list that's just detailed enough to explain what your basic approach would be, that's all I'm after at the moment. Of course I won't say no if you want to tell me more details!

2. What parts of the Ken Strong Platinum package would you recommend to read first in this regard? It's a lot of information to munch through, and I would like to start where it is most relevant for my particular aims.

Hope this is specific enough.

Any input very much appreciated indeed.

Have a nice day!

Cheers,

Matt

    Hi Matt

This ^^^ is where you were on the money.

    And here's your process:

    - Define the Market - who specifically will you serve?
    - Develop the Offering(s) - create solutions that address specific problems
    - Develop Strategic Assets - website/list/delivery mechanism/etc
    - Prepare for Execution - vision/goals

My advice is to forget how much and how long. They are the wrong kind of goals. Ignore (in a nice way) those who tell you otherwise. Focus on what you will create and how it will help people and you can't really go wrong.

    Good luck,

    Will

Simple answer, focus on providing value to your customers, not making money. I'm speaking from experience. I was all about the money at first and never made much. You know the golden rule, treat others the way you would like to be treated.
