How to advertise my website?

I have a website where I sell an eBay auction sniping software as well as a web based version in the form of a service.
Currently most of my sales come from listing the software on eBay but I'd like to advertise my website to get more sales from it but don't really know where or how to advertise it.
I don't mind paying a few hundred a month as long as it returns me more than that in sales. Where would be good places to advertise this sort of software and service?

    Advertise on forums where relevant while being careful not to spam. Create other content (hub pages, squidoo, etc) and also back link that way too (similar to the first thing I said).

    these two things are time consuming so if it truly is a good reliable service, good design, etc get into PPC like Google Adwords, Facebook ads, 7 search, and there's many others. and if you have sharing widgets on your site people may do this. (they could still share without sharing buttons but less likely)

    I hope a link building / SEO guru will come along and give a much better answer because I need advanced tips on link building myself.

    SEO would be the most cost effecient way to get out to your target market. Have a look at the Google keyword tool and see what people are searching for. Then work from their.

    There are lots of forum are currently available those allow to promote new product and new service. Just create a profile in one of those forums, describe the features of your software and see the result.
