Dillema With My IM Plan. Please Help...

Hey Guys!

Let me know if this is the right way to go:

My Plan
  1. Build a website promoting an affiliate product in a niche market. Do it till obtain sustainable profit margin and traffic per month.
  2. Do the same thing in another 2 more niches.
  3. Position myself in the IM industry by building my own product and services.

The 3 affiliate websites will basically be proof that my technique and services work. Also, it will be my source of funding into my actual biz in the future. To me, this sounds like the RIGHT WAY to go. But it is an old method, and was wondering if it still works. What would be the drawbacks of doing such thing? Anybody succeeded taking this path? Where would I possibly get stuck?

Am open to any opinions on this.

Thanks in advance!

EDITED: Traffic source = SEO (on page 1 now, 3.6k search volume per month), Youtube, FB, Twitter.

promoting an affiliate product in a niche market
How are you going to "obtain sustainable profit" without any traffic ? Your first obstacle will be getting traffic to your site.

Yes and to add on how are you going to obtain quality traffic. Take a look at my thread on getting low risk traffic here.

Yeah, you're right on that one. Traffic is slowly building up. But quality is definitely a question here. I'm experiencing each endeavor as I go through them. Trying to overcome them as fast as possible to speed things up on the learning curve. But conversions are a headache for me and is where I'm stuck at right now...

Thanks for the reply. Yes, i do intend to get traffic, my primary source of traffic right now is SEO. Im on page #1 of my primary keyword which brings in about 3.6k searches per month (slowly picking my way up to the No. #1 spot

I also do videos on Youtube which gets in a little traffic.

Focusing on social networks now (mainly FB and Twitter).

Your plan is pretty broad. I mean it's pretty basic in terms of what you could do. Is it the best approach? Probably not. Will it work? Depends on a lot of different factors. I'm not sure what your looking to get out of this thread?

Are you asking if its a good plan?

I guess, but its hardly a detailed one so it's impossible to say if it will work or not.

My take is that if you think you can promote products and services of your own, why not start there? Why mess around with being an affiliate?

I know affiliate products are popular in this forum, but really I think they're a tough way to go. If you've got original products and services of your own that are really worthwhile, you'll be better off promoting them from the beginning.

Thanks for that. I totally agree with you that selling affiliate products is a step down from selling your own. But I was hoping that my success in creating these affiliate websites will be my future product.

Below is how I increase the chance of CB sales

1.) Your product has to be somehow related to your blog. If your blog is about dog training, then you should look for dog training products in CB. If you are selling a ‘get your ex back’ ebook on a dog training blog, I can 100% guarantee that you will have low conversion rate.

2.) Promote a product that has gravity of 30+ or more. I personally will not promote any product that is less than a gravity of 80.

3.) Offer bonuses that are related to your product. Visitors may check through a few reviews before they make the final buying decision. If you have bonuses, it will attract them and visitors may bookmark your site and purchase from your aff. link later .

      Thx for the tip.

I can say that No. 1 is spot on. As for gravity, it's slightly above 30. But the reason I'm promoting it is because I believe in it. Sounds corny, but its true, as the product has work superbly well for me. Great idea on the BONUS! Haven't done any yet, but will brainstorm about it as soon as I get off this forum

Well, I wouldn't base your whole website on a single affiliate product and I wouldn't launch the website with an affiliate promotion in the first place.

Build websites based around niches that interest you and then start finding affiliate products to promote. Amazon affiliate program is perfect to turn a profit from practically any niche you decide to pursue.

You didn't include how you were planning to market? Are you going to focus on SEO, SEM or some other form of marketing?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I am promoting only one CB product. In what ways can I slip in multiple promotions? I know that in biz, diversification is key, and that the worse number is the number "1". But the whole thought about diversifying my promotions really gets me confuse when it comes to tracking

Good. Forget about 2 and 3 and focus on number 1. How are you going to market to reach your goal?
