Launching my first ebook and looking for all of the advice I can get!

Hello everyone!

As this is my first post, I'll give a brief introduction. I'm a young newbie, though I have been playing around in IM for years. I got my start of making money online referring friends to one of those cheap cash for offers sites in middle school...I got bitten by the bug, and haven't turned back since.

I've taken up little projects now and then, but recently I started my most significant one to date -- I wrote an ebook, and I think I'm ready to launch.

I tried to find a niche that I knew a lot about, which I did. I was also hoping to be able to use an emotional hook that would draw people into my site and product. What I decided on doing was writing a guide on how to become popular, and after some research, it seemed like there were a lot of people willing to pay good money for a guide.

So, I've created my website, which is getpopularguide.com. I'm not extremely proud of the video that appears on the sales page, but I am researching one that may be more effective. I'm still waiting for approval from CB, but I'm pretty sure that I'll be approved.

I've also crafted some affiliate tools and had a small amount of design work done. What do you guys think of the site? Do you have any advice for a newbie like me?

Thanks a ton guys! I've been reading posts on here for weeks and am happy to finally be a part of the forum.

So strange that this is the top post, but I'm going to be giving my first ebook really soon. I've made my living online full time for years, so I wish you the best of luck coming from someone who is also trying something new!

    Impressed mate.

Wicked first attempt. I'd start driving traffic and see what the market thinks. Get some sales and start to improve the sales page and follow-up emails on your exit pop to get the biggest bang for your buck. Maybe hang out in the copywriting section of the forum too.

That's a great start. Now you should focus on where your market is going. Go there and promote the hell out of it. The first sales will always be slow but then it will pick up. Don't forget to capture everyone in your list so you can market to them again and again.

To be honest don't think your going to sell alot unless you have affilates on board. If not then you'll have to use paid advertising to get things going. I'd suggest running a few solo ads first to test the waters and have your product as an OTO. See how the sales copy converts.

If the results are good then do a few more to increase the amounts you've sold and save all the stats and conversions. Then join some of those IM Skype groups and hustle around to get some promotion for yourself. Other than that if you have the money to invest then go to the ad networks and test test test. IF you can break even then just scale it up.

    I hate to be negative...

....But, be prepared to fail - now, I don't mean you will fail, you may, or you may not.

But I remember when I launched my first ebook, I thought it was going to make me so, so much cash - it made me a decent amount, but not what I thought it was going to.

I was happy and gutted at the same time, but I learnt a very viable lesson - you'll never know how well something is going to do, until it's done.

    So never, ever assume.

Also, your target market is going to be "nerds/loners" in high/middle school, so I suggest changing the pictures of the testimonials on the sales page to that kind of people so that the traffic can relate better.

Other than that, killer sales copy - (something I had the first time round, as I am a copywriter myself - hate to put people down, but yours could use a little work - message me if you want help) There isn't a hook to really drag the reader in either (the most important part of a peice of copy in my eyes)... -

... and a decent amount of traffic will produce sales - the product has to be good so that people don't want refunds as well.

Good luck, and I really hope your ebook is a hit, but be prepared incase it is a miss like I said before.

I agree with the points mentioned above.First of all well done for getting off your butt and doing something , that's probably more than 90 percent of people so you are already in the top ten percent. Now set yourself a little achievable target , maybe selling ten books as an example. When you have hit that target , celebrate and enjoy the feeling. There are many down turns in this industry so it's essential to celebrate and savour the wins.Keep returning here and give back to the community and people will give back to you.

It's a great start and you should be proud of yourself so just kick it on to the next level

The only thing that comes to mind is stop trying to make your product perfect... Just launch it! You can ask for a few pointers in the copywriting forum, so your copy will convert better, but that's it; you have to go live to make it work.

    Imperfect action > Perfect inaction.

Congrats on taking it to the next level mate, some people quit before ever writing an ebook or putting together a campaign. The fact of the matter is, nobody fails in IM, people just quit before they find success.

    Best wishes,
    Dan
