One large site vs 2 smaller ones?

Hey all,

I've been studying up about clickbank marketing and have found a great product I'd like to promote. I've already planned out my sales funnel, but when I research keywords to use to promote it I see two groups which are highly related but different enough to be unique.

The clickbank product in mind is a perfect resource for people looking for information from both groups. What I was wondering though is what you would do if you were me.

1. Build 2 separate sites based around the 2 main keywords but drive all traffic to one squeeze page.
2. Build 1 site using both keywords and drive all traffic to one squeeze page.
3. Build 2 separate sites and 2 squeeze pages and drive traffic to each one.

Any insight would be appreciated.

It depends what keywords you use. If they are searched for
the exact match x2 is an advantage. So test. No one can know
    before you set it up.

If you have the cash and time to invest in two domains, this is the easy way to test which is going to be better. Often, for almost no understandable reason, one group of keywords will do better than the other.

Sometimes, there is some information about the keywords that is not available on the keyword tools because it is a social metric and sometimes it is as simple as how your header looks or the way the words run together in the URL.

So if you think you have time to do both, do that, keep track and go with the winner, and if and when you want to let the second one go, just move your content over or keep it and redirect it to your better performing site.

I have done this a couple of times, using keywords that for all intents and purposes were equal, only to find one outperforming the other by many times the traffic and profit; So I let one go, copied the content over (with a bit of rewriting) and kept the better one.

I like the idea of consolidating things because I believe a rising tide will rise all ships (Last time I'm going to butcher that quote today - I promise!), but there's also something to be said about diversification. I'd go with two sites, and do them both slightly different, maybe back-off the backlinking for one of them etc.. Gives you a good chance for a bit of a casestudy and some side-by-side comparisons which you can bring into your next project.

By the very nature of this next advice, take it for what it's worth but... The very best information you're going to find about making money online is the stuff you actually try and figure out first hand, for yourself. That's the stuff you can always trust.

      Hi:

You can sometimes optimize using a few keywords. This does become a little harder though because you have to properly place keywords, and use them together. Having said that, if your key words are different enough (so you wouldn't use them together in the same paragraph), I would also recomedn building the two sites.

So far I know, Google started penalizing websites that has exact domain names a couple of days ago. Do some research into this. But I heard a birdy sing saying that and the exact day my exact domain name website disappeared...

Wrong. They are penalizing if the domain and content quality don't sync. And they aren't exactly penalizing I guess, just that content quality and domain name have to be in sync to rank.

I would build one site and drive all traffic to the squeeze page. It's either you're going to invest most of your time into 1 site, or will scatter your time into multiple sites. Which option do you think will be more efficient for you in the long run?

Don't spend to much time building multiple funnels for the products you want to market. Test, test, test, before you invest time or money.

Build quick high quality squeeze pages, or affilaite funnels with Squeeze Mojo

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking I"m going to go with the two sites. The niche is relatively small so I don't have to go over 50-70, 700-1200 word articles to have a well built out site about the topic for each group of keywords.

I'll also do a test of two different squeeze pages to see which works best. I just picked up Optimize press and that should make things easier. Thanks for the advice and I'll come back to share my results.
