2Checkout Application Refused for Strange Reason

Hi guys,

I applied for a 2Checkout account about 2 weeks ago & today they refused my application & have given the following reason.

We appreciate your interest in 2Checkout. However, the business category of products and services that your website represents is restricted by our upstream providers. These restrictions are based on industry wide statistics for your business category.

While we cannot accept your business, we have formed a partnership with a company named Total-Apps that may be able to help you. Please visit their website at comparemerchant.net for additional details.
Can anyone explain this to me please?

I had clearly mentioned in my application, that I'll be selling digital downloadable products on my website, which are instant downloadable. (Products like eBooks, video/audio courses etc.) But I don't understand the point of refusing. Is there anyone of you guys already using 2CO, for selling digital downloadable products?

This really doesn't make sense. I tried to open my 2CO account & it says, account closed.

Can I apply again, with same agenda?
Any advice for me?

I'm feeling worst right now. First I lost one of my main jobs & now this, when I planned to move on.

I suspect these are the key words in what they said to you.

It's not about the fact that you're selling digital products, is it? It's about what the digital products are, I think? Are they in some high risk category, or something, (like "Get Rich Quick"/"Forex")? It seems that the financial institutions with whom 2CO do business have classified them that way, anyway?

There are other processors for "high risk industries" (but they charge a bit more).

It's presumably one of those to which 2CO has referred you?

If the business category of your products is the reason for their declining, it's difficult to see much prospect in re-applying to 2CO, surely? (Unless, perhaps, you want to debate them whether or not your products really are in whatever category concernes them, and try to change their minds about that? Not easy, is my guess.)

No, I'm not selling any products like "Get rich quick" or nothing related with Forex. Its about internet marketing digital products & most of the products are PLR & MRR products. And I even offer a 30 days refund policy. What risk element they see in it ?

That's perhaps the problem, then? I'm not sure. But ClickBank has also just decided no longer to handle open-source/aggregate products, I think: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...15-2012-a.html

I think it isn't about what risk element they see in it, but (as they said) about what risk element their upstream providers see in it?

You can ask them, of course.

What are other available & reliable alternatives that accept payment from PayPal as well?

I'm checking Plimus, that looks good, but takes as much as 10% of your each transaction!

ClickBank, 2Checkout and Plimus are the ones I know that take PayPal.

I wish you luck, but I think it may be that Plimus (and/or PayPal?) will have the same problems that 2Checkout and ClickBank have with this type of product, and for the same reasons.

I don't suggest it will help you get the products on sale, but possibly reading this thread may help you to see it as less "strange" than you imagined?

It would be wise decision if you apply again.

Well, yes I thought about it, but I'll wait unless I'm very much sure that it will not be refused again, for the same reason.

It may be that they don't accept MRR/PLR products. I had to explain to one processor that the version of the THUD Report that I sell is not the one that people have bought rights to, and point them to a few of my other products, to clear up the confusion before they'd approve me.

Once that was out of the way, it took them all of 15 minutes to say yes.

Now 2CO is not accepting these kind of IM products because of high refund rates. You may try fastspring.com which is very similar to 2CO and Plimus.

Fastspring does not allow PLR. I'm not sure about resale rights products, but I doubt they accept those, either.

Here's a hint to keep in mind for the future: Whenever a big chunk of the IM crowd gets involved in something, the price will go down, the abuse will go up, and providers will start looking for ways to block the associated problems.

      Count on it.

Well, I applied for a Plimus account & same thing happened again.

Upon review, we regret that unfortunately we cannot support your business due to Plimus not supporting the sale of Ebooks or BizOp services.
On their sign up page, in business categories, I picked 'eBooks", that looked the most relevant so I picked it, because it was most relevant to my product line, ebooks, video courses etc. But I really don't understand, that if Plimus don't support sale of eBooks, then why they've mentioned eBooks in business categories on their Sign Up page ???????

I know a lot of people using PayPal are selling ebooks or other PLR/MRR products, but they don't get refused by PayPal. And if 2CO, Plimus etc. will keep refusing sale of digital products like this, then what makes them an alternative of PayPal???

If you have or can get a PayPal Business or Premiere account, then you can use their merchant services without another shopping cart company being involved. They are actually a little cheaper than 2CO if you figure in all of the fees involved.

Be careful to have and keep all of your ducks in a row with them though!

That's the problem, that makes me look into other services. PayPal don't support my country.

The term "industry wide statistics" is an important factor in the message you received. In other words, mass fraud and junk in the "IM" field is pushing the field to the edges of the net.

You may want to visit some porn sites, see what they are using to process payments, and check out those processors.
