Hello Warrior Friends,

I have a question about site flipping. I'm planning on letting a couple of mine go and I have NO idea about the finer points. I need some help if you'd be so kind.

The two sites have fabulous domain names, well aged, but no sales. Naturally I have stats, etc. Both are longtime PR2.

Assuming I put them on Flippa, with what little I have told you, could you give me a realistic price to shoot for? $40? $400? I have no idea.

Practically speaking the domains are better suited to build on than what's already there.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Norm

What's the niche ? PR2 ranking is fine, but when looking to sell a site, the buyer must see the potential of making money with the site.

How can I use this site to make money???

If it's a limited niche with no sales value, then your pool of buyers will be small.
If you are selling potential sales, then you need to research it as if you are going to start selling from the site. This will give you an idea of what your potential buyer will need to do to make it profitable.

    Hope these thoughts help.

Send me a PM. I buy and sell sites in Flippa. I can even buy them off you if they are what I am looking for.

Is there any traffic? How fantastic are the domain names? How much unique content? Any really dynamite design?

Take a look at some similar ones selling on there. If you've got great domain names you could get several hundred dollars or more - don't sell yourself short! What it really comes down to is how valuable those domains could be to others. Do a bit of research so you don't low ball your prices.

    Hi Guys!

Many humble thanks for the posts. I recognize some of you. Ha!

I don't really know any good reason I can't just tell you the names of the sites, but maybe there is a reason to not pre-advertise. I'm as dumb as roadkill about this aspect of the trades. Jeez!

I'll say this... One is a shopping site and the other is a lottery site. The one had only 433 hits last month and the other 368.

The shopping site. Well now... It could be a monster for someone. It's just that I have been through like 3 complete revisions of the darn thing and I can't put seem to put together the right combination. And now I really don't give a rat any more. Just ready to dump. The lottery site....It's good for its purpose. The shopper is PR2 and the other PR1. Both were taken down one PR after the Penguin got a tooth into them. And that's another reason I'm done. Just slap burned out.

Oh...and both are built with Frontpage. I guess I'm doomed. Right? Ha.

Well, thanks again for the feedback. I been around some...but this is new territory. I hate to just let em go back to the big domain farm in the sky without trying to get something back from them.

    Hey Norm,

To be honest, if they aren't making money, the sites are built on anything other than Wordpress, you're going to be hardpressed to find a good buyer on Flippa. Flippa buyers are finicky and are only looking for either potential or income.

You'll have to do a great job with selling the potential of the sites if you expect to break-even on your listing fees.

Have you thought about listing here on the WF in the complete sites for sale section? You can also try other marketplaces like digital point.
