So how are the odds on selling an informational product today?

I'm sure the odds were already typically something like in 300 will buy or whatnot, but let's say you write a good, well-researched e-book, market it to maybe a few thousand people to start and target your market by finding the people who need this information. Would the odds be good on selling something like this today? I see so many e-books and I have personally never purchased one because I've never been fully sold on it, but that's just me.

    This.

If you can sell to the people then your odds are high, really high. That means the right message in front of the right people through the right medium. It seems you've never been sold because a strong enough desire wasn't there. The eBook didn't align with your inner longings.

The key to selling to people is to flame their desire. Desire can overcome any objection or thought one has, just look at what people do for a desire they have.

Then there's no reason to not be able to sell 300.

Yeah, Amazon and Kindle are pretty much dead now. No one is paying for any information anymore. I'm not even sure how this forum is still sustaining itself.

What ever you do, don't even venture into the WSO area of this forum. Waste of time - no ebooks or info products selling in there.

I'm not a big fan of ebooks myself as well, but people do buy them. It's all about finding and focusing on the right group of people. content is king and people will share a good read..

Find a problem or desire that people really have, put together a quality set of steps to help them answer that question or desire and then do a great job of both explaining the value as well as targeting them to get them into your sales funnel and of course ebooks will sell. Still our preferred format with courses, membership sites and video/audio packages for back-end, more advanced products.

Change one word, and your odds will improve dramatically. Instead of "finding the people who need this information", concentrate on finding the people who want this information.

It used to be that "e-book" pretty much meant a pdf document. There were some other competitors for formatting but none really overtook pdf until Kindle came along.

Now there are millions of e-books, maybe even billions of separate titles and this is how an immense quantity of information gets shared.

It is possible that the subject you chooses will only have a limited audience, but it is also possible that you could write an e-book that millions of people will want to read.
