INTERNET MARKETING

Forget all the info product launches and the DVDs-shipped-to-your-door and all that crap....who has the best PLAN in order to make money online?
Everybody knows that a product, no matter how good it is, WILL collect dust and be worthless if you don't know how to use it properly. So I'm not interested in products.
Who can tell me (in detail, if in your own words, or recommend someone's) who has the best step-by-step PLAN that I can follow so I can finally make some money and not give up on the whole idea completely.

And don't confuse "tools" with "products". I know certain tools are key to a successful business, so if part of the PLAN is "get X, and use it this way", then fine. But the PLAN mustn't hinge on any hyped up product unless you can tell me EXACTLY what to do to make it work.
I need a PLAN, people....

I think part of the problem could be that you're looking for a plan to "make money online", rather than a plan to build a business. The "make money online" products are mainly focused on tactics and strategies, rather than business building principles.

I've been making money online since 1999, and honestly I have seen very few people teaching how to build an online business from the ground up. Yes there are some who teach how to build a website, and other who teach how to do PPC ,etc... all of which can be important components of an online business.

The tricky part is figuring out how to put all those components together to build your business. Beyond that, most guru's don't teach the foundational elements of business building, such as getting a vision for your business. Rich Schefren is one who does. Russell Brunson is another who teaches a good plan. I also teach it.

Most courses that claim to be a blueprint for building an online business will start with a step #1 of doing niche research, or registering a domain. But I think that there are several steps that need to come even before that point.

So what happens is all these newbies are trying to build their business without a proper foundation... and if you build something without a foundation, what happens?

Also realize that there is no 'one size fits all' plan. Unless you want to buy a franchise, you must develop certain parts of your business on your own. But I think you are on the right track, and you are looking for the right type of plan.

It's like a career. Things just don't come to you right away. It takes practice and experience to make money online. Other than that I would say my own methods/products work the best as would anyone else.

It is a whole big puzzle. There are many pieces to that puzzle. Some of the tools help you put the puzzle together. Start with what do you think you are good at or what do you know a lot about? If you know that then you can build a business from there. Can't build a puzzle without a picture on it. If there were one magic, "do this and it works", then everyone would be doing already.

Figure out what you want to offer people first. Is it a product? Is it a service? Once you've figured that out, figure out what kind of product or service that people need, and if you have the talent and skill to offer it to them in the best manner possible. After you've done that you can look for a 'plan' that suits your overall business strategy. There's a plethora of them out there, and some of them are very good, but none of them are going to matter unless you have a foundation set in place first like eholmlund said. Go for the basics, then work your way up.

  While this won't give you 100% of the steps (I dare you to find one that will anyway), one of the things I recommend to my clients is to model successful businesses.
  
  For example, if I were starting from scratch again, I'd still buy courses, systems, attend seminars & masterminds...
  
  BUT... I'd also spend a lot more time mapping successful business models.
  
  Like Scubita mentioned, I'd start by finding the market (because your market is KEY - and will tell you so much about how you should be doing your business).
  
  But then I'd research the top 5 or 10 successful businesses in that market.
  
  I'd also research the most successful businesses in complimentary markets - as well as completely unrelated markets.
  
  You can learn so much by watching what other companies do. And it's 100% free training.
  
  You can watch what Mike Filsaime, Frank Kern, Jeff Walker, John Reese, etc. are doing. Their offers, their sites, their systems, their emails, their JV partners, etc.
  
  Yeah, you might not get 100% of the story, but even their own products on HOW they did things rarely give 100% of the story. (Not because they're hiding anything, but often there are so many "moving parts" - that any "complete" guide would be too cumbersome for implementation).
  
  However, even 80% of the story can give you insights into creating your own successful business.
  
  Modeling success is a very important part to building your own successful system.
  
  Watch. Keep notes. Make checklists. Implement. Test different ideas. And build that business.

Strategy first, then tactics.

"I'm at the corner of 1st and Main downtown. Give me directions to a great vacation." Not enough information!

What are your strengths, interests, loves? Your vision of your ideal life?

What kind of business supports that vision?

What are the key decisions and elements of that business?

All of these strategic questions need to be answered before tactics are useful.

There are a million ways to make money online. However, almost all of the "Make Money Online" gurus make info-products and launch them. I would say the most stable way to make money online is the create a product, have a great sales letter, and sales system.

As far as the best products that teach this....Mass Control, Nitro Blueprint, and Product Launch Formula.

Best all around product to go from nothing to sales....Nitro Blueprint.

  Thanks a lot for the insight. I realize that: 1. I need to plan my own personal business suited to me, and 2. I can't expect it to be handed to me, I gotta go through the trial and error. Looks like I've got a lot of research to do; and more importantly, just DO something. Thanks JayXtreme for the list, and Mormuno01 for the Nitro Blueprint recommendation. As far as what I love to do (singing), I never thought that it could translate into an online business, so I just figured I'd go into what everyone else was doing because it seemed to be working for them. My passion is music, so I think it would probably be best if I stop trying so hard in the Make Money Online niche (bcuz I don't know as yet how to do it anyway) and try the Music niche. Not sure how far I'm gonna get, but I'll keep you all posted. If anyone by chance knows anything on this niche, feel free to advise. Otherwise, thanks a lot, everybody. Any more info on how I go about making my own PLAN is surely welcome; because I still am a bit unsure as to what to do. Thanks.

Music is a big field. In what way would you like to be involved with music?

Providing Internet marketing for bands? for recording studios?

Providing a concert reviews web site available by subscription?

Selling iPods through a web site?

Time to make a few lists. What do you love about music? And what your personal strengths, talents and unusual information you know? Who would be your ideal customer you'd like to sell to over and over and have as a fan of your business? In your ideal work day, would you be behind your computer at a coffee shop? Hanging out backstage? As for your ideal customer, what is missing that they would want to buy regarding music?

Your ideal business will be located at the intersection of these lists. Nobody else can tell you what that should be.

Hey Allen,

You've given me alot to think about. The thing is, you've been able to rattle off three moneymaking music-related ideas off the top of your head; and I've yet to come up with a single one!
All I know is I love to sing. I also have a great capacity to teach (or so I've been told) and I kinda always had this thing about being able to teach anybody who wants to, how to sing. People come up to me all the time and say, "I can't sing!" and I always tell them, "Anybody can sing, they just need to be taught how". Only thing is, how do I translate that into a product that will sell?
I'll be honest, I've never had the opportunity to personally mentor anyone on how to do this, so I'm gonna have to figure out a way to get it done myself; but that's my passion...teaching people how to sing well. So I've got my idea and my target audience, but what now?

There you go, that's a perfect niche. There is competition, but there's also quite a demand for an easy way to learn how to sing or how to sing better. I can picture a site something like SingWithYani that has your articles and one minute how-to videos. Capture email addresses for a monthly newsletter, one page with three or four great tips, two or three links to videos of great singers with your comments about their techniques, and a one paragraph promotion of your complete home study video course on how to sing better. The product is a $97 series of videos about how to sing, shipped on DVD and also when you buy there's immediate access to the videos online. Or you could start by selling a $7 ebook with five pages of your best tips and work your way up the value chain with larger products over time.

If you can have a sub niche such as how to be a better country singer in only 90 days, that would reduce competition and make you more valuable (to a smaller niche) as the one & only Expert.

Hi Yani,

An idea to throw into the mix.

1). Ask yourself what is your target market for example classical vocalists, rock vocalists etc.
2). Get on the net and search for people that are vocalist tutors.
3). Look at their website, make notes on what you think is good or bad.
4). Become subscribers (if the option is available), follow them on twitter, or just make contact with them from the perspective of being a potential customer.
5). Find out as much info as you can their prices, how long each tuition is, and make a list (gee I love lists1) of what they are offering.
6). Look at your notes and you should have the foundation of a business model.
7). Just go do it! .

The point I'm trying to make is the you need to find a business model that actually works, and then duplicate it.

Research is essential. It can be boring, repititive and frustrating, but done correctly it can be fun, interesting and enlightening. It's also essential if you want to start any business.

You must figure out what interest you, thus, you can are the one who has the answer. Everyone might say, he has a great plan for you, but in the end, you will still come up with the one that is right for you.

  There's too many areas to make money in to claim ONE best product. LIke another poster said - it's like a puzzle. there are great programs, but then you need your own twist.
