So, let me get this straight.....

First off, let me say: first post here, glad to meet you guys. I really admire what you all do. I believe Internet business to be the wave of the 21st century, and you guys seem to be first in line with your surfboards ready. I look forward to learning from you.

Now, a bit about me....

I've been writing literally since I could spell. Short stories, poetry, two unpublished novels, essays, articles....

I was an English major in college and excelled at it. Writing comes naturally to me. I've undertaken the process of research, outline, write, and then rewrite, so so many times that now, it's virtually nothing for me to do. And I can confidently say that I do it well.

What's more, I enjoy it. It puts me into the zone.

Now, rewind to a couple of months ago, when I discovered this forum and others like it. I came across the concept of article marketing, and found out there's a huge need for writers out there who can craft original, compelling copy. I began putting two and two together.

Straighten this out for me, Warriors?....

Can I really begin advertising my abilities as a writer, and actually get paid to research and write?

Frankly, that sounds too fun to even be possible.

Yes, if your post was only a draft but you can produce consistent quality work without grammatical errors, then I don't see why not.

    Good luck.

Anything's possible with the right attitude!

My advice to you to get started, and to put yourself "above" your competitors, would be to provide review copies for free and/or put a VERY cheap price point -- all to get the reviews and a loyal customer base. You can then raise your price to the point you deem suitable for your expertise, and judge how your customers react to that.

Your "loyal customer base" will quickly disappear as soon as you raise your prices!

If you've got the skills, price yourself (and market yourself) accordingly. Otherwise you'll just keep attracting clients with a very limited budget, AND you'll be competing with the myriad other writers who'll write for pennies.

There's all sorts of writing jobs out there ... I work as a garden writer most of the time when I'm not making new sites. I don't know if I can get PMs yet, since I haven't posted much, but I know some other writing job boards too.

That post has links to many other threads.

Wow. You make a post, go grab a shower, eat some breakfast, and when you sit back down you've got six responses already! I have some posts in some forums languishing unanswered STILL. I can tell I'm going to like it here

Thank you all for taking the time to respond. There's a lot to take in with this field, I can see that already, but I also see concrete steps for getting a career started as a writer. I've wanted that since high school.

iWriter is a good place to start. It doesn't pay as high as other places, but to get some funds before moving onto more advanced articles, it's worth it.

Of course you can. I have been working as a freelance writer for 4 years now. If you have 20$ post a AD in the 'warriors for hire' section.

You can also check out The Content Authority. Of course, if you really want to make money you need to contact clients directly.

You could do anything you want.

Start advertising your skills - everybody is looking for a good article writer.

Do a "side gig" of a niche you love and start building content to your own property

    Crush it.

    awicky,

I didn't read all posts above me so disregard this if somebody else has given this piece of advice. Never ever give a review copy to anyone. Please know that their definition of review copy here is a 'free copy.' Try to visit the Warriors For Hire section. Notice the first page of every sales thread of 3 to 5 content providers. You can pinpoint who here are lurkers only to find a new provider who offers free articles. Build your portfolio page. Give the link to those who want to get a feel of your quality in writing.

I've been making money as a writer off and on for several years. It is possible, but don't fool yourself into thinking it will be easy. There are quite a few content mill sites, but not all of them are good for the writers. You have to be careful where you put your work.

My personal choice is Constant Content, but others will recommend different sites. We each have our own preferences.

Another option you can consider is writing content and selling PLR to it. Tiffany Dow has a course on it at PLR ATM Official Site By Tiffany Dow Whichever route you choose, good luck!

Writing copy is very important and can easily be profited from if you are good, all you have to do is get your name out there, copywriting will never go out of style and it can make you lots of money as well.

You can write your own books and sell them on Amazon (Kindle or .pdf style). You can join sites where people are researching and writing content for others. Like iwriter or some similar site. But if you're an expert in some topic, you can also create your own website/blog and write about that. You can offer free bonus to your visitors and build a list that way. Later you can sell to them if you will create excellent relationship with them.
