How do I get new members - Newbie

Hello Fellow Warriors,

I am new to the site and this is my first post. I have been lurking on the site for couple of weeks, trying to figure out how to market my site to get more members.

I started this site ridesnroads.com (seems like I can't post it as link as I am new to the forum) just for fun and connect with other riders, and do not intend to make any money on it. I am planning on spending some of my beer money on marketing. So far I am doing following 3 things, which I learned from this forum.

1.Article marketing
2. Blog
3. Social Network sites

Can you give me some advise on how to get more members, anything else to do and have existing members to be more active and contribute their stories etc.

I will appreciate any input from you guys.

Regards,
Seenu

Try posting on some biking forums. If you are not selling anything they may be more relaxed letting you talk about it.

Its not a bad site, I myself am a biker and I think you have a nice site.

    Hi!!
I think riders would like to see than to read an ezine article, see it yourself.
so the best thing is to get visitors from Photo sites and video sites, you can also make a nice photo slideshow submitt it to photo sites slidesites make a video for the same slide post it on video sites, link and promote your site , same slide and videos in various related forums.

    and here is your site

      Hi Kumar,

Thank you for the feedback. Would you mind listing few photo and video sites. I know youtube and flicker. Are there any others that you would recommend. And thank you very much for linking my site.

AH! You got a Ning site! So do I... blackinternetmarketers.com

It's really hard to get new members to these unless you promote it yourself like crazy, or you get your members to use that tell-a-friend form once they signup.

Give your current members a good experience, and remind them to tell their ridin' friends about the site so they can all have a common meeting place online.

Also, making viral reports (with giveaway rights) about ridin' that mention your website in it...would also help.

I bought a great Home Study Course called Membership Site Bootcamp for $1385.00.

Teaches you everything about building and managing a successful membership site. It's brilliant.

Tim Kerber and Ryan Lee released it and Jeff Walker (Mr. Product Launch) did the launch for them

If you're interested to know more, please let me know

    Nice start, Seenu.

I recommend that you find a video camera that is sturdy, and that records to memory cards. Rig up something with bungie cords and shock absorbers to keep it securely attached, yet shooting as smooth as possible. Put an extra piece of protective plexiglass around it. Then capture some exciting or beautiful rides. Add some narration about the trip, then upload to Youtube and put still frames on Flickr. From these sites, say "road trip from ridesnroads (link) - please visit for free discussion of all the best rides." Post on the videos and pix of others and invite them to check out your videos and pix, which in turn will attract people to your site.

    Regards,
    Allen

In order to get new members on your site you must make a banner advertisement in order to have your site members and active and can share their stories. And it should be more eye catchy. And it should catch someone's eyes so that they will appreciate the site of yours. And that they are satisfied with the forum. And it should also help on others problem and try helping them.

also it would not hurt to add a link to your site in your signature. This might get you some traffic & would build you a few links.
