After buying a domain you have to point it to your host where you host a website. If you don't have hosting pls purchase it with namecheap and your domain will automatically connected with your hosting.

    cheers

By inserting your specific DNS that means you have a hosting account, so, all you need to do no is wait for the domain to propagate, usually takes up to 48 hours but it's usually quicker than that.

After it has propagated you will be good to go, start creating and uploading your sites and you are in business!

After updating your nameservers to what your web host specified, you will have to wait for up to 72 hours for DNS to fully propagate.

Take a look at their support portal at https://support.hostgator.com/ ... the answer should be there. You can also use their live chat support... they're usually pretty helpful

You did the right thing, I think.

Assuming your Hostgator account 'knows' that that's your domain, it sounds like you probably just have to wait for the DNS change to propagate? I know they say this can take up to 48 hours. It's terribly variable, sometimes they go through in an hour or two, but sometimes they really do take 48 hours.

Both Namecheap and Hostgator have very good, friendly, supportive "online chat support" if you're in trouble after that (good reason for using both of them, IMO).

I also did not know what to do after I bought my domain name. But I have recently
learned how to set up my WP blog after paying for my own domain name and hosting.
If you want to avoid all the hassles I went through, I can help you with step by step
    instructions .
