Average Prices For Banner Design

I've been checking out the WFH forum, and most of the design gigs I see quote prices around $20 for a banner. Is this pricing normal for quality graphics?

Also, does anyone know if there is a market in IM for fantasy, or RPG-style graphics, 3D modeling, etc. (obviously the gaming niche, but other than that)?

Thanks,

joe

I've paid $15 and I've paid $30. for banners, the more expensive one was definitely nicer.

This is generally the same prices Ive paid, I would say that its not so much the price but finding the right person to do it, you can even make them yourself if you want to.

In my opinion the price of a banner depends on your specific requirements.

A 20$ or 30$ banner sounds like the cheapest option for a static banner.

I do HQ static banners for $75. This includes up to 10 revisions. I will deliver the banner in 6 sizes. The top 3 most used formats (PNG, JPG and GIF) including the source PSD file. I kno how to use the colors/fonts in order to improve the conversion/clicks.

An animated Flash banner is more expensive as it implies more hours of work.

    I hope this helps

    Thanks

Go to Fiverr, people will do mutiple banners for $5. There is good work on there.

Also, in a lot of niches, basic ugly banners are better then fancy graphical banners.

I guess that depends on what an individual's definition of "quality" is.

I've never seen anything of "quality" in my standards for $5. I'm not quite sure why everyone is in love with Fiverr and what their expectations are from it.

Banners can commonly cost anywhere from $50 to $200 depending on your specifications. Of course the expertise of the person doing it will factor into pricing as well.

I've gotten some quality work on Fiverr, but I've also gotten a bunch of crap work from there as well. I guess it really depends on the person running the Gig and their skill level. Some people will run design gigs on Fiverr to build up a portfolio.

Some of those prices actually do not quantify the output of their designs.

You have to put on your thinking cap before paying for any banner.

Hey, folks! Thanks for all the replies

I was actually asking from the point of view of the seller - thinking of doing some freelance work myself. But the posts here have answered my question about price.

My other question in the OP was about style - do the color-saturated, heavy-handed type graphics such as 3D fantasy world or video game graphics sell outside of the gaming niche?

I shop around on odesk when I'm looking for graphics and have had some really great results (and some really terrible ones) - $20 is pretty average for your typical "niche site" header - but in my experience if you're looking for some good branding/quality work to brand a site across facebook/messaging/twitter etc... expect to pay around $200 for something decent
