Can my name address be hidden, when I register domain?

I mean, a person can look at a website, and search the domain, and find out the owner's name and and where they live.
What r the drawbacks of giving a false name address when registering domain? Or can I ask these private details to be hidden from the public?
When I got a domain some years ago, I don't recall being given that option.

You can buy domain privacy at under $10 per year, which will hide your details when someone does a "whois" search on your domain name. That's about it.

This. Just buy the privacy and it will cover up your personal details when someone happens to "whois" your domain.

Giving false information in a domain registration gives the registrar the authority to take the domain away from you.

You can always have "whois" protection option for new and old domain. I always buy it when I registered a new domain and extend it for the next years.

Sure, go to Namecheap and get domain for yourself. They will charge you only something like $3 for first year of privacy protection.

The first year of privacy protection is free, at Namecheap.

After the first year, you can renew them at $7.88 per year for 5 domains (about $1.58 each, or $2.88 for one individual domain).

There are several registrars that I know of that offer free privacy guard as long as you own the domain. I rarely pay over $11/yr for a domain with privacy included.

Privacy is usually a few extra bucks a year. Read 10-20ish a year extra.

And, I have to inject that getting "privacy protection" is about as effective as keeping a burglar out of your house by locking your door.

Select "whois" as an option which covers your details - when purchasing domain.

I think you should not do that. We are here for business. Our good information usually work as our assets. I never give any wrong info or i do not hide any info that actually prove that i am not genuine to the public.
