Hi Warriors, My question has to do with acceptable download time for PDF documents. I have a number of documents I just created as part of a Package deal. I have images in every product and in one info product quite a few photos. I have compressed and resized them, but still get some pretty good sized PDF docs after converting from word to PDF. Is there an acceptable range for file size that should pretty much allow anyone a faster download time? I do not want to discourage people that still have relatively slow computers which can only contribute to longer download times. For instance I have a 93 page e-book that is 1.25 megabytes. Is that too large for someone that may still have a relatively slower computer? How would that file size stack up for someone with a faster computer with better download time? I want to get this right before uploading my products to my web page. What do you think? Thank you very much! Dennis |

In this day and age, I'd say 1.25Mb is acceptable for quality content. That would take 2-3 minutes with a 56Kb modem. There's danger in working to the lowest common denominator just to cater for a small minority. Cheers, Neil |

1.25 MB is not a big size. You can use .zip or .tar format for the pdf files to minmize the size. There is no such average size for download. But as you said people still have dial-ups. So keep them less than 2 - 3 MB size. . |

I think you're fine with that size. One thing I recommend is that with every ebook in your package (don't know if you have more than one) you clearly state the file size in with the product description. Then there is no surprise for someone with a slow dial-up connection.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the tip. I agree with what you are saying. It seems better to let people know what the file size is upfront than to have irritated customers. Good point. Dennis |
