Money just dissapeared

Hello,

I got a payment from a guy of $47 regarding some dispute. I got an email from

paypal saying "******" sent you $47.00 USD

Dear anoop****@gmail.com,

Just thought you'd like to know ***** sent you $47.00 USD.

So I clicked on the link and opened my paypal account, later I see there is a green notification at the top saying that you have received the payment and you can ask for it in your bank account or with check.

But the surprising thing is I didn't see the any sort of transaction or money in my account.

Now when I refresh there is not even a notification of any sort.

I am confused what happened?

Sometimes it can take awhile for the balance to show up. Make sure though that the email is from paypal.com and its not a spoof.

  These values can be spoofed easily enough.
  
  More of value would be to look at the Full Headers and to look for the "Received" field. It should say something like:

Not sure what has happened here. It may have been paid with a check, which would hold payment back for 3-4 days.

If you are still confused, ring PayPal.

This can happen if the payment was sent to an email address not linked to that paypal account. If that's the case all you need to do is add the email to your account information so the payment can be credited.

If that's not the case - you'll have to ask paypal for an explanation.

email came from a gmail id. Suppose it was a spoof then why did paypal showed me a notification when I logged in (though I couldn't see the money in my account).

NEVER NEVER NEVER click a link in any email to go to your paypal account. EVEN if you are sure its from PayPal.

Instead type PayPal.com directly into your browser and go there and login. If you create a habit to do this every time you login to ANY financial account then you will not have to worry about email scams.

If you do not see the money in your account... the email was a phishing email scam.

Change your password today.

Anoop, the best advice is to contact PayPal instead of thinking all by yourself on what really happened. Hear it directly from them. Let them check your account.

Guys another thing I am confused about it that in the from section it is showing a gmail id but on the other hand it is showing

mailed-by: paypal.com

signed-by: paypal.com

What does this mean?
