What to put in AR messages?

I had my whole autoresponder set up but I am thinking redoing it all because people aren't buying.

Is there any good WSO or other product that is concentrated on follow up emails and the 'science' behind them?

Any tips would be appreciated

Gone are the days when we could just build a list, promote products and earn money. People are not buying from strangers online anymore. They need to connect with the person doing the selling. They need to know them – like them – and trust them before they buy from them. In saying that though, they're just words. In order to really understand this below the surface level, you need to study marketing, copywriting, advertising and sales. You need to understand your prospects needs, desires, goals, fears... You need experience too.

On top of all that, you also need to target the people who are actively looking for what you're
offering. Even if they have no idea what exactly they want, they still have a problem that needs solving. Find out how to solve that problem and you will sell all the bloody products you want.

Oh yeah, one last thing.People don’t want to build a relationship with someone they can’t relate to. They similarly do not want to communicate with another hard selling marketer either. (there’s enough of those out there already.) Give them a reason to like you, to want to hear more from you, and most importantly, give them a reason to want to buy from you. Be truthful, open, sincere, helpful and let your true personality shine through with every interaction.

Now that's something you can read in a lot of books, but to really understand it takes a lot more than reading. Although it will take years to learn all this stuff, you just need to get the basics right and learn as you go. You're in this for the long haul anyway, right?

Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins and "Persuasion" by Robert Cialdini are great books to read. Create a separate email address and sign up to the best copywriters lists. Gary Halbert and Drayton Bird are two people I follow. Learn "attraction" marketing, study NLP. Listen, the list can go on and on, but you get my point. You simply take your profession very seriously and study, learn and implement.

That's how I see it anyway.

      Here's a radical idea...

      Ask your subscribers.

Filter your list to ask only people who have finished your sequence why they did or did not buy. Either just have them answer the email survey or set up a short survey on an anonymous site like Survey Monkey.

I'd keep it super simple and very neutral.
First screen: one question - did you buy product xyz? Yes or No options.

Second screen (Yes): Thank you for participating.

Second screen (No): What additional information would you have liked to see in our emails? Text box for response.

Would this information have influenced your buying decision? Yes or No.
You would probably need to tweak the wording of the questions so you get the information you need, rather than what people might think you want to hear or what they think they 'should' answer.

Have you, built a relationship with these people?

Do you promote, relevant products based on their needs?

Do you, have a good email headline? Getting good open rates?

Does the body of your email, motivate your list members to click on the
    the link?

Does the landing page, of the link in your email convert?

All of these play, a huge role in the success-- you are going to have. Building trust with your list is key...
