Google Spokes person Live On UK morning TV

Anyone catch "GMTV" this morning?

(for the non british "GMTV" is a national morning news/variety program)

A spokes person for Google was taking a beating over privacy issues over the launch of "street view".

First time I've ever witnessed Google actually defending themselves on a live TV program in the UK.

I found it funny but only because "street view" hasn't took a picture of my house.

Yeah compared to other features on Google, Street view should be the last of people's concerns!

I think its getting TV coverage because they have taken pictures of Celebrity's homes and they have gone to the media to throw a hissy fit, so big "G" is fighting back

I saw the BBC version. The media must be short of news - they are really trying to work this up - it's a complete non-story.

The terrorist threat angle is ludicrous. I don't feel any less safe knowing that someone can view my house (or the local police station, army barracks etc.) on Google. I presume that, were Google to withdraw this service, then anyone sufficiently interested might spring for the price of a ticket on the number 23 bus and just take a few snaps themselves.

As someone on the radio said the other day...

...it's hardly private information. If someone wants to see your house, all they have to do is walk down your street.
