Duplicate Content Question

Greetings All,

I have been an article marketer for a few years now and am planning to expand into a number of niche blogs. I keep reading about duplicate content penalties and have a question or perhaps a few questions to ask.

If I publish an article on my blog first and then submit it to article directories such as ezinearticles.com will my blog still suffer a duplicate content penalty?

My thinking may be flawed but it seems to me that if I post the article to my blog on Monday for instance and then wait until Tuesday to submit it to the article directory I should not suffer the penalty. Is my thinking correct in that?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You In Advance,
Lee Ruleman

Well, I believe credit will go to the authority site..

What you can do if possible is have two articles written one for your blog and one for your article marketing.

Also, it's really not a penalty, they will just show the more authoritive sites page above yours.

    Hope this helps..

    Dennis

First of all article directories do not accept duplicate content. So you have to first submit it to an article directory and when its published you can use it on your blog.

As far as duplicate content goes...IT'S A MYTH....google doesn't penalize duplicate content but if you use the same article twice on the same website..then google will penalize you.

Couldn't disagree more, Google will penalize you for duplicate content, by throwing all of your pages except maybe your index page into supplemental results. If all of your content is the same content as articles directories your going to be in big trouble.

My advice never put content on your site that you have submitted to directories, you maybe be able get away with it if it's just a page or two, but if I were you I would just completely avoid that.

I am not 100% agree, because most of article directory have almost the same article contents. Many Internet marketer submits their articles to as many article directory as they can.

Meaning they have many articles or most of them have the same article submitted to other article directory sites. But many of them were not penalized.

Yes but if your site or blog has the same content as the other 100 article directories how is your site or blog going to rank in the midst of 50 pages of the exact same content that Google has already indexed. Yeah you may get lucky, but is it worth the risk.

Quality original content on your site, then submit quality original content to EZA.

It might be good to limit the number of places where you submit your article. Figure out which ones are providing the most traffic and forget the others, as they may not be helping you. Just a suggestion.

Yep, there's never been a penalty for doop content, but you better worry about the doop content FILTER, which is why you need the "best backlinks".

There's a difference between a penalty and a filter. I suggest folks start researching and understanding this concept.

Thank you all for your comments and advice. I believe that I will do as some have suggested and write an alternate version of each article for the blog.

        You guys are great,

it is much better than you will send different articles for both your blog or to any article directories. Just make a little twist about your articles and that would be fine.

Just wanted to add one more thought, yes backlinks are extremely important however you will need a whole lot more backlinks to rank for anything if your site has the same content that you have already submitted to EZA and all the other article directories, why cause addtional unnessary work for yourself, keep you content origianl submit orgianl content, and you will avoid the hassels.

SPIN your articles... just spin the link anchor text and keywords a little. You have more to be concerned from being scraped and having people repost your RSS feed to their sites.
