"What Is Your Main High-Converting Traffic Source?"

Hey Warriors!

I'd love to know what works best for you if you're earning a consistent income online over $10k per month... There are so many traffic avenues, and I'm pretty sure everyone has some kind of main source of traffic where most of their leads come from!

Fill out the poll above? I'd love to know if you have anything else too.

Actually, I voted before I noticed your $10K per month criteria. I don't make that much yet, though I do make a full time income. I doubt you are going to get accurate results with that stipulation in place. Your results will be skewed because:

    1. There will be those who do make >10K per month
    2. There will be those who, for various reasons, want to keep up the pretense

Haha, I understand where you're coming from Will...

But it's totally fine if they declare it upright like you do... Actually, as long as it's a sustainable income - that's perfectly fine. If it works, all that's left to do is to optimize and scale up, right?

Hi Adie, why do you say that? I'd love to know how PPC compares with organic, for example... Is there a difference between people who click on sponsored search ppc ads and people who click on organic listings?

Your conversion matrices... Are they based on opt-in rates, or are they sales?

Hi Dan, opps, I kind of left that one out I guess...

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seems like SEO is leading so far, followed by social media and PPC (display). Didn't expect that at all... I was thinking that email-related traffic would form a pretty larger portion as a main traffic source...

      Keep it coming guys...

If I had to choose one, it would be SEO, but that is a skewed stat since that is where most of my efforts were...I am diversifying away from that to Social Media, email, and offline.

Now I consider SEO simply a lead generation tool.

Hey thebitbotdotcom (lol that was hard to sub-vocalize), I'm currently thinking of seo as a lead generation tool as well, haha.

Are you finding any avenues which are working better than seo?

I really hate to say this, but...actually no.

Oddly, our SEO performance has done even better since the Penguin and EMD updates.

Honestly, I have no idea why. I have only done moderate on site SEO and have almost stopped link building.

Regardless, I am going to start investing heavily in SMO...I am hoping that pays off, because, well, I don't trust search engines to keep treating me well.

Don't rely on your results.. they are skewed in the wrong direction if you are looking for 10k a month kind of answers.

Bing PPC listings and solo ads work great for me.
Being consistent in traffic and lead generation ususally
puts a solid income over $7000 every month.

I second microsoft media center or bing ads!

I don't make over 10k per month but consistently make 3k to 5k mainly from paid advertising!

I generate a lot of free traffic from youtube direct to landing pages or my blog.

But in my experience paid ads done correctly is where the money is.

If someone is willing to share their most high-converting traffic source, then why not their entire campaign. So just change the thread title too...

Seems like here's the scoreboard for now:

      1) SEO - woah, this is ranking far higher than I expected... I did believe SEO's roi to be lower... did not expect that actually.

      2) Other types of traffic - seems like people are delving into article syndications, blogs, articles and youtube...

      3) Social media traffic - alright, I expected this, but this is quite close up to the rest of them up there...

--- I think we can see a trend here... most of them on top are "free" traffic ---

But more doesn't mean that it's better, there are others who have had votes by some anonymous voters...

      4) Ad swaps, solo ads, ppc display, ppc search, 3rd site party traffic! Seems like some people are kicking it secretly with paid traffic and some "referral" traffic.

      5) Lastly, PPV and CPA networks are also getting secret "love"... Again, more doesn't mean that they aren't working!

Hmm, but you need considerable data on
the mindset of the visitor to formulate
"valuable" content and good copy triggers
placed well to optimize roi... Which is like a
          different animal.

But what's the difference between organic
and sponsored ads that are on the same
page? I mean, are you implying that
          organic out-strips ppc search?

I handle ppc a little differently as it's hard to
optimize for each keyword one by one until
you narrow down from a basket of kws.

          Hi Kim,

How long would you say it takes to become good at it? Is it something that anyone can learn or does it take a certain degree of technical skill alongside marketing know-how?

          Thanks,

Based on the conversations... that's because most people that are answering are not making 10k a month.... Like I said the stats are screwed..

I've just relaunched my blog about 2 weeks ago. I've been focusing on driving traffic w/o the use of seo.

I drive traffic through blogging and community based sites and leveraging the influence of others.

Here's my four main traffic points:
    • Blog commenting (High traffic sites in my niche)
    • Content aggregators (BizSugar.com and Scoop.it)
    • Social media (Facebook/Twitter) and
    • Forums (Warrior Forum)

These are working fantastic for me so far and my results are pretty good.

Here's the results I've gotten so far:
    • 1,325 New Unique Visitors
    • 159 Facebook Likes
    • 41 Facebook Shares
    • 12 Google+’s
    • 89 BizSugar Votes
    • 24 New subscribers
    • 3 New Relationships with Influencers
    • 9 Natural Blog Backlinks

This is only from 6 posts on my blog.

I've just begun to release weekly traffic case studies the first of which I've released today: [Weekly Case Study] How I Got 1,325 Unique Visitors, 159 Facebook Likes, 70 Retweets, 89 Sugars?? |

The amount of traffic I've gotten to that post today has actually been pretty staggering to me.

Thanks to social media and some blogging heavy hitters sharing my post with their networks.

It's amazing and exciting to see how viral and fast free traffic can be when done properly.
