Default Selling Without Scarcity Tactics

Has anyone done tests to see how adding scarcity affects sales?

There are 2 very big marketers I know of who do not use scarcity.

Ken Evoy of Sitesell and Bill Harris of Centerpointe. There are no deadlines
or limited amount of product being sold, yet they seem to be doing fine.

Jakob Nielsen doesn't use any scarcity to sell his reports either.

However, other big name marketers make scarcity a priority and main point of their promotional message.

Anyone care to share their experiences or test results?
