I am one of those not-so-active members of this forum. I spend about 99.99% of the time reading and reading and reading. I forget to add my two cents and comment. I just wanted to share with the forum that I have found some success in merging my offline skills with my online knowledge. In the first few years of trying my hand at this online stuff, I was looking down a very narrow tunnel. "Make Money Online" was my goal and that's what I intended to do. It wasn't until I opened up my focus a bit more and saw what was going on in the **real** world--the offline world--that I was able to put two and two together and really start to make a good income using online techniques. My number one piece of advice that I have for newbies starting out in this game is this: open your front door. Look around *your* world. Where can you find the intersection between the offline interests and skills that you have and the online world? I guess this is just another way of saying "find your niche," but I think it goes deeper than that. My other piece of advice to people starting out--stay focused. I wanted to start a million different things, but instead (over time) I brought it down and was able to focus it to three simple things. And those three areas are 100% of my online income. In time, I can build to four or five or six, but I wanted to make sure I had some viable streams already set. Finally, it has happened. Thank you to everyone who responds to questions on this site. You have helped me more than you will ever know. Now...I just need to work on the 99.99-to-0.01 ratio... |

Hey Mollysbrother, that's a quiet post amongst a sea of shouting headlines and i empathise as that's been my path too, still is. I can't remember where i picked up this nugget but it goes something like this: you need to put in 5000 hours (maybe it was 10,000) to become really competent (unconscious competence) at anything, a sport, writing, a trade, chess, anything. Some people online and offline are either incredibly talented or lucky or both, but for the vast majority of us, success, whatever that may be, comes slowly and as a result of the effort you outline above. Kudos my friend, and good luck, thanks for sharing. Tony |

Hear, Hear, That's what I've been saying as of late... merge offline real world with online. I didn't achieve much success online no matter what I tried until I combined being a print broker to offline businesses with online affiliate programs and products. A hard lesson I learned that applies to offline as well as online... don't try to reinvent the wheel. Take a look at what's there and already working and see how you can improve it, make it faster, offer it cheaper, etc.., and you'll find success. Also, as you stated... "stay focused", once you find something that works for you, stick with it, build it up, and once you've reached a comfort level, then branch out or try other things. If a new venture should fail, you still have what you started with and can continue to move on without missing a beat. I think most fear treading in the offline waters because of that four letter word... "WORK"! However, if one works smart instead of hard, they'd be amazed at how simple and easy it can be. |

Hey there, Again, very eloquent with your words and this time full of sincerity. The common theme in these replies seem to be centered around good ol hard work. I second that! When i was a young buck one of my closer friend's parents would constantly drill a single quote into our exploring minds. "Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration" Cheers Jay |

I agree that focus is important started out... Start with one thing you are offering and grow from there.

i totally agree with you.its not difficult to get lost in this sea of making money online. so many opportunities out there, that you end up trying two or more ways, and by the second month you loose focus. start with where you think you are good at.then work on enhancing your skills. |

Offline + Online = CASH formula is very hard to implement in some countries where public internet access is limited due to poor communication lines, public awareness etc. In such situations for people living in such countries who want to earn online, offline is not an option which they can enjoy like those who live in developed countries.
