Boy, Does My Site Have Troubles...

First off, I'm just joined The Warrior, and I'm glad to be here. Now, here is the problem.

I started a Wordpress blog a few months ago. It's a book review site. Lately, I've been noticing in the comments section that I've been getting a lot of what is probably spam. Some of these comment praise the site but link back to commercial sites that have nothing to do with books. I "mark as spam", and get rid of them.

I also get some "comments" that are just plain gibberish, and make no sense at all. I immediately delete those.

This morning I got a comment praising the site, but said that he was having trouble viewing it on IE. Well, I use Firefox exclusively, but I do have IE as a backup on my computer.

Imagine my shock and surprise when I went on IE and found that I could not access my site. All I kept getting is a "website restore error". I'm starting to think that my site has been hacked. Needless to say, I'm very upset about this.

I am not super-technical, so, is there anyone out there that can help me? Any and all serious advise will be appreciated. Thank you, in advance.

First off mdc2727 the OP wasn't asking about comments, so your advice isn't really helpful. Why don't you try to provide some helpful info instead of making statements like you just did? Sheesh!

Second, To the OP: I'm not real technical either, but you might want to talk to your hosting if they offer support. You also might want to talk to someone who knows web design who can possibly fix the issue. That's all I would know to really do. You can also go to the part of this forum that web designers hang out in and post a question there. Just some suggestions. Good luck!

You might check the compatibility of your WP theme with IE. Are you running the current IE?

Ditto about the theme.. do this: try another theme on your site, temporarily, then look at it in each browser you have. See if you still get the error. If not, there's a problem with your original theme. It could also potentially be a plugin, but try the theme change technique first. So many themes just don't work properly, it's amazing.

Thanks so much, Godinu: Changing the theme was the ticket. I almost never use IE but others do, and I want them to be able to view my site with no problems. So, I'll live with the new theme even though I don't like it much. Anyway, I'm sure this isn't the proper way to "thank you" here, but you have my thanks, anyway.
