Do I Have a Chance With Amazon's Kindle?

What are my chances of making some money on Amazon's Kindle if I created an e-book out of the short children stories I have on my site. Do you guys think it is a good idea. If yes, what would be a fair price for the e-book. Thanks.

My BEST ADVICE: stop posting here and start putting books on Kindle.

I would love to, but I would like to find out from the experts here how to go about it first. Thanks for the advise though.

The "experts" are busy posting books to Kindle - they aren't here to answer your how to questions. There are WSOs for that. You should hop over there and find something that has what you want.

If you have stuff to publish, your SHORTEST WAY to know if it will sell is to PUBLISH IT. Asking here won't help you. The only way to KNOW is to DO it.

You may think that "taking action" means asking how to do stuff. It doesn't. Taking Action means LEARNING by DOING. If you already have content, you are just wasting time here.

        PUBLISH NOW, PUBLISH OFTEN.

I've heard that children's stories do very well on Amazon Kindle. My understanding is that the magic number on Kindle is $2.99, but this may vary by subject. Have you taken any courses on publishing on Kindle yet? If not, I have a "Kindle basics" type of course hosted on Udemy that normally sells for $97 but if you're interested, PM me and I'll send you my instructor promo code so that you can take the course for free. Hope this helps and good luck!

Absolutely go for it. What have you got to lose but a little time? $2.99 is a good starting point. Anything less and you get a much smaller percentage of the earnings. Plus $2.99 is a small enough amount that many people are willing to spend it. I put an ebook out there just to test the waters and consistently get sales on it, without even marketing. Your mileage may vary, but if you already have stories online, it makes sense to link to your kindle version -- built-in audience!

It's definitely a good idea and yes, you could be very successful in doing it. In regards to price, the best thing to do is test different prices until you find the sweet spot perfect price.

There is money to be made on Kindle but be a little careful. If you merely copy and paste your childrens stories from your website and publish them on the Kindle they may be rejected for being 'Freely available on the internet'.

I've read forums were people had their accounts blocked for doing something like this. I think its subjective, some people do it with no problems while others do it and get blocked.

Don't take any risks, if your account is blocked you can never have another one, they will record your address and not allow you to post again.

If you are just taking them from your website also, make sure you dont enroll in KDP select. KDP select means users can borrow your book but the book will be rejected and your account banned for you making the book available elsewhere!

Let me start off by saying, I love your site! I can, with great confidence, say that you have more than a good chance at succeeding with your kid's books.

I can say this because everynight when we put my 4 year old to bed, we read him short kid's stories on the Kindle! He loves it and so do we! We are constantly looking for new stories. (Tomorrow night, we are going to head to your site instead )

Like the previous poster said, if I were you, I would look into Amazon's terms and conditions as applied to uploading content you can freely find on the web.

If you do decide to jump on the Kindle bandwagon (which I personally think is a smart thing to do because Kindle is super easy to make money with), there is a WSO called Kids Kindle Magnets that teaches you how to create Kindle books for kids.

Go for it! And don't just stop after you have published your book. Publish a second, third, and fourth. One good tip is to create in a series, or create a character to build your series upon. Create a blog for your series, a Facebook page, an Twitter account, create video trailers for your books.

    Really, the possibilities are endless.

Of course, people make lots of money on Kindle in just about every niche imaginable. The real question is how good are your stories and how willing are you to do the promo needed to make them successful? You cannot simply publish there and cross your fingers. You must test the market, research and do the promo needed to make your new venture successful.

      Good luck!

Before I forget, if you do decide to sell on Amazon then make sure to set up an authors profile. That way you can direct people to your website and also let them know a little about you.

I would recommend using your website to promote 'upcoming kindle exclusive' books. This way uou can build up excitement and anticipation for the release.

As I mentioned earlier, submitting books from your website could get you banned. In fact, I would say its highly likely! Amazon don't take into consideration that you are the true author, they only care that it is available elsewhere. Besides, amazon use a price promote service and if one user emailed them saying all your books are free elsewhere they would just drop the price to $0.00 to match it!

On fantastic thing about kindle is that each book promotes another. For example. Lets say you have 3 books online. A user clicks one of the books, they will be brought to the sales page and will be able to click on your authors name to view your authors profile. Once they do this, all of your books under that pen name will be listed and they may make further purchases.

I will give you a warning. My sales on Kindle have been very poor. For some reason I have more luck selling physical books, but there you go. Most of earth's population does not have a kindle e-reader - that might be the reason. Perhaps I am in a niche that is very narrow. Still, sales are poor or worse. Promoting books costs a lot of money. Hope you have deep pockets because you will need em.

    Hi,

If you've created it out of stuff that's on your website: forget about it. They want original content, exclusive to their platform.
If you can write original content however... Then start writing. That's what I do. The guide in my signature is published on Kindle, I'm already making a few sales a week, I have several follow-ups to write as well as the French and Spanish versions... I believe if you can write, it's an interesting way to explore.

    Seb.

PS: You don't need to have a Kindle device to read Kindle books... Amazon offers a free PC / Mac / mobile application. But you do need to take your potential readers by the hand and guide them.

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

I haven't created anything yet, and by now I am quiet aware that I cannot use my site's stories thanks to all the warriors.
