Creating eBook and Having Affiliates ...

I'm about to create a product, most likely an ebook, and hopefully get affiliates to promote it for a large percentage of the commission. Can this be done with Paypal? Is ClickBank the way to go (it is a simple product)? Or is there any other way to do this?

Yes you can use Paypal. Clickbank is definitely a great place to start as long as you have some money to put in to it at first. You can probably also sell on Amazon and Ebay as well as Craigslist. There are tons of places you can sell your Ebooks.

Thanks for the reply. My question is "how do I set it up". Especially if I want to capture the emails of the buyers. Does Paypal allow for the splitting of commissions etc.?

You cannot use Paypal alone, Paypal is a payment processing system not an affiliate management system. Clickbank combines both payment processing and affiliate management with their marketplace.

You can use Paypal if but you still need an affiliate management script or service - some examples would be...

    - Ejunkie
    - 1ShoppingCart
    - On the higher-end you have Infusionsoft, Nanacast, etc...

These services typically combine front-end shoppingcart, product management, affiliate management and sometimes ad management and autoresponders all in one.

I have used both 1SC and Ejunkie and have evaluated Infusionsoft - all of them have their strengths

Thanks, I will try and look into Ejunkie. They allow us to split the payments to affiliates?

Each of Ejunkie, 1Shoppingcart, etc... allow you to manage affiliates meaning they can sign up and get their own link that ties referral sales or returns to them, report on these, set specific commissions (you may want to pay some partners more than others for example), manage commission across multiple products, setup special promo tools they can use (email samples, banners, etc...) - but they do reply on you (the affiliate manager) to pay them each month (or however frequently you want to pay your affilaites). You can pay them through Paypal by sending them money when it is owed and then marketing them "paid" in your affiliate management tool

Clickbank is a full-service affiliate management and payment service, they will take care of paying your affiliates each month as well as managing those affiliates - for that they charge a higher monthly % fee on each transaction. For example, CB keeps 7.5% of each transaction +$1, so on a $100 item sale they keep $7.50+$1 = $8.50

If you simply go with a payment processor like Paypal and use something like Ejunkie (which has no monthly or transaction fees) then your transaction fee woudl only be 2.9%+.30 per transaction. So it really depends on how much you are selling and how big a ticket item you are selling to know if the extra charges from CB are worth it or not to have them fully manage your affiliate program for you.

    Hope that helps,

    Jeff

I would use Clickbank and Paydotcom. Services like "1shoppingcart" is good also for affiliate management.

I would definitely go with ClickBank. It is very easy to use and your product will be put in front of several affiliates.

You can also add your product to classified ads websites such as...

    Craigslist.org
    Backpage.com
    ebayclassified.com
    classifiedads.com
    Sell.com

You can use clickbank to promote your product and to increase the number of sales through clickbank affiliates. You can add this product in your personal website too and make a payment process system through paypal. Through which people will be able to order the product from your website too.

You can always catch your customers contact info if you put a capture form between the payment and delivery link. Tell them for future updates is a popular way of doling it, it seems.
