does visiting my own site affect my traffic?

I'm just curious if it does. After I upload a page of content, It's easy for me to visit that page and read it multiple times to check for grammar errors that I may have missed. When I do this, I just read it from the website. I don't log in to the WP Dashboard.

does visiting my own site affect my traffic stats?

UPDATE: I just spoke with HostGator and I was told all visits count including my own from the same IP. Each visit is considered a hit. So all of my visits do get counted as well.

Most of the traffic analytics don't count the same ips several times, so in my opinion it won't affect your stats...

Yeah, that makes sense. I check my site dozens of times a day for updates, changes,etc...good to know I'm not messing with my stats.

It depends on the program you are using to view your stats with.

The most important stat you want to look at is uniques not hits.

If you use Google Analytics, you can set a Filter to not track visits from your own IP addresses.

In my traffic logs, when i visit my own sites for appearance and testing purposes... my dashboard tracks all of my clicks, and counts them as individual hits to my website.

I do not think it will effect in your site's ranking. Because if you are visiting the same site through one IP again and again, it will not be counted.

IN GA, they are counted as returning visits and not unique visits if I am correct
