I am an affiliate marketer, basically my day goes about doing these things ...

(im in the niche of muscle building)

Workout (and record while doing so to put on YouTube)
Writing 3 ezine articles
Writing a blog post
Answering mutliple questions on yahoo answers
Recording 2 YouTube videos
Posting on social networks

I have the entire day open, all day, just about every day and I KNOW I can do so much more to get my business goin. I have been going at it for 2 months and I haven't made 1 sale yet.

Any suggestions?

Mister... Stay cool! Things just don't happen overnight. You can write, you are intelligent, you have a sense of humour and are willing to communicate... Have you ever considered swapping swinging the weight for good old fashioned internet marketing? God knows this industry could do with more honesty like you lol

Create a feedback loop with your customers. Are you asking them for feedback? Re-read all of your articles and re-watch all of your videos and look for ways that you can improve. Also, ask someone who's already successful in your niche to take a look and give you some advice, even if you have to pay them. Model what people in your niche are already doing that's bringing them success and do it even better. Lastly, persist!

Keep marketing and add more strategies to what you are currently doing right now. From all of your efforts of marketing... have you noticed an increase in traffic to your site? If so, then this is an indication that you are doing something correctly. Build on it.

ezine articles do not work any more. Find targeted blogs and post offer them a guest post. Dive in to social media and make relationship with peoples of similar interest. Lastly, keep patience for at least 6 months to grow your business !

what I would suggest is first you start learning about Google Analytics if you haven't already.

or even hypertracker which is only $20/month (google analytics is free)

either of these will allow you start tracking your efforts.

It's no use to be writing articles for ezine's if they aren't sending you traffic, or spending all your time on social media if you get no traffic.

so you want to start tracking where is your traffic coming from.

this way you know what is working, and you can throw away what isn't working.

then you want to start learning about split-testing.

You want to start learning which of your ads gets the most clicks, which headlines and ad copy hits the hot buttons of your target market making them want to buy.

even things like which email subject lines gets your list subscribers to open your emails.

You are building an email list right? if not then you should start.

And let's say that you are building a list, and you have a free offer as an incentive to get people to opt-in.

Well if you are having trouble getting people to opt-in then you change your free offer, and keep changing it every so often to see if you can get your opt-ins to increase.

so focus on getting more traffic

learn which of your efforts is driving traffic to your site

split test your free offers to get more people to opt-in to your list

split test your ad copy to get more people to buy

    Hi there,

Congrats on taking action. All of us can tell that you're a very determine guy.

Just my heads-up, don't waste your time and efforts writing 3 articles for ezinearticles. Use that time to write blog posts instead, after your blog posts has been indexed by google then you submit them to ezine-articles. In the end, you'll have 3 blog posts in your blog and 3 "articles" in ezine-article. It's better than having 1 blog post in your blog and 3 "articles" in eza.

There are few more reasons why this is a better way, in my opinion. :

    1) Google still loves fresh and unique content. By posting your blogposts/articles on your site first, your blog will raise up in search engine quicker. (of course, please don't forget about the quality of your content. And please don't use SEO blackhat marketing strategies)

    2) Article directories like EZA are no longer as effective as in the past, they were slapped by google in early 2011 (if i remember correctly) hence most of your articles will not be shown in search engine results. The only one that will see your articles in eza are people who are looking for quality content to add to their blogs/websites.

You also mentioned about posting youtube videos. GREAT JOB! KUDOS! I'm reckoning that the quality of your video must be pretty good since you record yourself doing sorts of things that educates people.

Just a gentle reminder, add your website link (http://yourwebsitelink.com <-- youtube will automatically detect that as a link) in the first or second line of the description bar without having others to click on the "show more" button if you haven't done so already.

I made this simple tweaks few months back taking an advise from a guru (forgot who is he) and my CTR from youtube dramatically increases by 71%. Am really grateful and thankful for the advise from that guy.

Hope this help and never give up
    Jeremiah

    Hi Jamescanz,

If you are producing all these videos, articles etc; then you should consider filtering that traffic towards your own blog or a squeeze page and buidl a list of subscribers from it.

Also you need to track where your traffic is coming from so look at adding Google Analytics to your pages etc as a bare minimum.

You are willing to work hard so put that to good use by buidling a list, then building up relationships with your new subscribers by providing great information to them and focus on marketing to them before asking for the sale.

You can also show them what you are about before they decide to buy your recommendations and they will begin to trust your opinions more once they know you are human and not just some automated sales loop.

Hope these tips give you some direction my friend.

All the best and keep us posted on your progress!!!

I think you can try to run some PPC campaigns. But you have to burn some money to do some tests at first.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone.

Contributing to what many of you have said...

Just about everything I do leads to my squeeze page to build my list. End of blog posts, end of articles, links in YouTube videos, etc

It seems like the general consensus is that the articles on Ezine should be blog posts, and then sent to Ezine (I can use the plugin for that)

I have been tracking where my traffic comes from as far as organic, articles, youtube, forums, social bookmarking sites, facebook, etc

As far as my blog post titles and YT vids, I target long tail keywords, put the keywords as the video name, in the description, and of course the URL to my squeeze above the fold.

I've also been answering many questions on yahoo answers, leaving my blog posts (which also cleverly lead to my squeeze page) as the source of information, and I let the person know that they can find out even more info by going to the link in the source.

As far as doing a guest post ... that is an awesome idea that I will implement. I haven't done that what so ever and need to get on that.

I have become quite efficient at doing all of this in some good time, which leaves me a TON of free open time.

Blimeyoreilly recommended IM. I have heard so many say that you should really focus on one niche, but, on the other hand, there are many IM who teach as they learn. It could also be a niche like affiliate list building or something.

    Any thoughts on that?

Thanks for all of the input btw, I appreciate it.

As well as everything already mentioned.

What are you giving away for your freebie on squeeze page. You haven't mentioned anything about your list yet. What size is the list? Are your emails being opened? What information are you sending?

-- Create a 7 day video training/muscle building/weight losing/whatever series and have that on your opt in page. Your subs will get a video each day taking them step by step through your routine. At the end of the 7 days they should know you, hopefully like you and maybe even trust you to take them to the next stage. (you could use VTubeTools - Custom youtube embed players with parameters like playlist, autoplay, loop, bb code to customize your youtube videos to your liking)

-- Send your subs to your own website where the videos will be situated (don't send them to youtube) Then you can have a little write-up under each video promoting whatever product you feel will compliment the training in the videos. (make sure they only get to see one video when they click through to your website each day)

--Before you set this up though, pick whatever products you want them to buy before creating the videos. Each video should take them closer to the end result, which will finally be the product. Does that make sense?

That's just a simple strategy that becomes far easier to market. People are much more likely to respond to a 7 day video training series than an eBook. Especially in that niche when having a visual of a workout plan is far more appropriate. Getting traffic will also be easier and you have a much better chance of building a solid relationship with your subscribers also. It's a win win win.

Play around with it at first. Sit down for a couple of hours and design the perfect strategy to implement this. You're the expert in this niche so you'll have a far better idea what your audience wants.

--keep providing value to your list via your emails and by sending them to your website.

I use my squeeze page to identify the problems associated with my target audience. It has been working well with me so far, but adding a few coaching videos to it would definitely help.
