Is It Good to Have "REVIEW" in domain name

Hi Warriors,

I am planning to make a review site and want to have the word "review" in the domain name such as xyzreview.com or thexyzreviews.com. I want some good suggestions from fellow warriors.

Regards,
Slazengeer

You handcuff youself as far as branding goes.

People who are worried about stuffing words like that in their domains are usually basing their business on SEO traffic. XYZreview.com is begging to be slapped down by Google. They have no interest in supporting your site that exists solely to make money.

Pretty much what CalinDan already said .

Authority sites used for branding and long-term profits are usually less 'domain-title' optimized.

But for a little, niche/sub-niche site this can work very well. Although I've heard something about Google doing a nasty update on EMDs these days. Don't know much about this, but you should check it out before making an investment with your time and money.

Thanks for the info, but could you please give some examples of authority sites, which have less 'domain-title'?

Don't need to search further than the 'big names' in the IM world. They pretty much all do product reviews on their websites/blogs. Yet non of them optimize their authority sites' domain titles. Usually it's their name, followed by "marketing", "blog"... that is, if it's followed by something or just simply their name.

Any generic name from a certain niche will do actually. It has to be catchy or often used in that particular industry you're targeting.

i think it limits you actually. say you don't have the word review in the domain name, then you'd be able to blog about products, news, tips, whatever. whereas if you have "review" in the domain, you'll only be blogging about products and services.

Depends on what you're aiming for. If you're focusing on just a specific type of product then it's fine to have "review" in the domain name.
