Best way to market 2 similar websites

Hello,

I have a web design/SEO client who owns 2 domain names, where in one sells a subset of the other. Let's say they were:

1. shedsforsale.com and
2. indoorshedsforsale.com

Would you:

1. focus on one site first then start marketing the other after the first is successful?

2. Make 2 separate sites completely different with different content, then put links to each other?

3. Build one site, and put a 301 redirect to the other?

I am looking for the best long term SEO strategy, as they both profitable and he is selling specific products on each one.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks!
Clint

I would personally focus on both websites and try to dominate as many keywords as possible in that niche. You can fill up both websites with different content about the same niche and link them to each other.

For long term SEO strategy avoid crappy content and spammy links and only hire people whom you trust for SEO.

A lot of so called SEO expert have ruined people's website and earning.

    In the nutshell, focus on:

    1. Quality link
    2. Unique content

It's really simple to achieve if you stick to white hat method.

It never hurts to create some youtube videos. I am sure with a little optimization and some backlinks, you could possibly rank them in less time than it takes to rank the websites.

Don't forget to include clear call to action with links to your websites in the video description area.

I would say that don't use redirection technique, if you are doing SEO then you would be penalized...

It is better to do SEO of both site separately for better result.

Thanks everyone. Any more tips. Specifically should I focus on one at a time or do both at the same time. This is in a fairly competitive market and I am leaning towards doing one at a time.

    Any other ideas?
